In 1825, during the end of Ohio's government under British rule, General William Henry Harrison ordered all Indian hostilities to cease until further notice; this order led to an uprising by some of these same people against their English conquerors. As a result of this uprising and general reaction against Harrison's order throughout much of Ohio (including what is now eastern Lake County), many settlers fled into Pennsylvania before Congress could punish them with military occupation and colonization policies that would have caused even more mass migration across river valleys into what are now western Pennsylvania and northeastern Indiana (Ohio). Catlin's decision not to flee may have saved many lives; evidence suggests that if he had gone westward along with most others northward into Indiana Territory (the present day Michigan), he would have been among those forcibly deported when that territory was taken over by United States forces following Harrison's death in 1887-88 amid guerrilla warfare between American Indians and United States troops sponsored by Tecumseh Chisholm Expedition leader George Armstrong Herring: "Catlin's choice seems inexplicable...He must have known full well what awaited him should he move eastward." Catlin founded Stroudsburg Academy - one of only four private colleges chartered statewide in America - because "he believed education should be available open to all". That institution remains one of America’s oldest continuously operated universities today...founded less than 50 miles from Cleveland – making it easy for students who wanted exposure to both great cities – especially during difficult times like World War II when air travel became unavailable or too expensive – or simply wanted access to excellent educational opportunities without havingto leave their homes… Stroudsburg also offered affordable tuition rates unheard anywhere else at that time...Today’s students can enjoy full-time study at our campus while still living close enough to visit us each semester! In 1902, President Grover Cleveland designated Cleveland Heights as becoming an independent city within Greater Cleveland due largely to resident agitation over proposed plans for annexation along Euclid Avenue northwest thereof which would have enlarged Green-Wood Cemetery far beyond its current boundaries inside municipal limits! This initial opposition was easily quashed as residents realized that any annexation would thereby provide them with direct access to world-renowned shopping facilities located within easy walking distance not onlyof their homes but alsoof other major businesses including Bridgeview Mall adjacent thereto –!!!!!! This situation has never changed since then as annexation proposals continue unabated despite vocal opposition.............. President John F Kennedy declared on October 16th 1963 during his last State Visit To Ohio that “west Carrollton will always stand together against anything aggressive or unprovoked coming from any source whatsoever…. We pledge ourselves togetherto protect our neighbors and uphold our values”............. Today there are several restaurants within easy walking distance including Danes restaurant on Euclid Ave., Italian Place on Wabash Ave., Subway sandwich shop on Superior Ave., Chinese take out place called Momo China Grill next door….. plus several movie theaters nearby such as Regal Cinemas located directly across from Danes….. outside visitors are able to find numerous shops & services catering specificallyTo visitors living & visiting within city limits……!!!!!
