West Carrollton City was founded on May 25, 1836 by the people of West Carroll Township. The community was named after General John Fenton, who led an expedition to explore the area in 1834. As a result, most current development within what is now North Arlington takes place within Cleveland County boundaries rather than within the city limits of West Carrollton City which had been its original purpose: This change contributed to some overall decline in population size over time as well as some loss of businesses and commercial properties that would have otherwise become available for redevelopment within city limits should they have arisen during this period; nonetheless, many aspects of today’s downtown west suburban area were developed or are being developed thanks to annexation or other agreements between city officials and county-level planners since then
