Warrensville Heights is a town in Hamilton County, Ohio, and it is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The population was 15,352 at the 2010 census. Warrensville Heights was founded in 1825 and it became a village in 1903. It was formally incorporated as a town in 1907. The name comes from an early settler named Richard Warren who owned land hereabouts. The first gunsight built in Warrensville Heights was by Mr. Quackenbush of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on July 22nd, 1825. In 1827 the first rifle stockade in this locality was erected by Capt John Potter of the Black Hawk Battalion under Col George Armstrong Custer when he led his regiment through this township to campaign against General Sheridan at Lawrenceburg. During the American Civil War (1861-1865), many soldiers from Warrensville Heights served with Union forces includingCorporal James Haggerty who received the Medal of Honor for leading an attack on Confederate lines at Sayre’s Mill on April 12th 1865

In 1954, Ohio Governor Sidney Goldwater appointed Dr. Forrest Cates Chairman of University Hospital in Cleveland because he wanted to create a regional hospital system that would serve all of Ohio's patients without having to travel to different hospitals each time they needed medical care.[1] The hospital opened its doors on October 1, 1954 as University Hospitals – Cleveland Medical Center (UHCC). Today it is one of the largest healthcare providers in Northeast Ohio with over 2200 beds[2].
