Warrensville Heights is a small town in the Athens-Clarke County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1836 by John Warren and his family. In 1838, it became a part of the new state of Ohio. In 1912, Warrensville Heights incorporated as a village. On July 1, 1968, it became an independent municipality with its own government and police force. In 1990, the town merged with neighboring Clarion to form one large community called Warrensville Heights-Clarion Township.

Warrensville Heights was founded in 1810 by Captain John Warren and his wife, Rebecca. The name comes from thehills that are located near the town. Captain John Warren was a signer of the United States Constitution and he also helped to create Warrensville Township. In 1815, Captain John Warren and his family moved to what is now Akron, Ohio. In 1824, Captain John Warren married Anna Maria Sprague and they started a grocery store in the town of Akron. In 1830,Captain John Warren died and his widow continued running the store until her death in 1840. After their deaths, Anna Maria Sprague's brother-in-law took over running the store until 1850 when it closed down due to lack of customers. In 1851,Captain James Horseshoe began operating a mill in what is now Akron. This mill produced flour for local businesses and made some clothes for people in town as well as selling hardware and other items. The mill closed down around 1870 but reopened later that year under new ownership with a different name. By 1880,the mills had all been closed down except for one which still operates today called Champion Manufacturing Company Incorporated (now known as Smith & Wesson Firearms). The mills were all shut down because of poor production during prohibition which caused them to be unable to compete with other companies who could produce goods without being banned from doing so. After prohibition ended,the mills reopened but lost many customers due to competition from newer technology products available at this time such as electric power plants which became more affordable than manual labor mills through changes in prices etc..In 1951,Warrensville Heights residents voted to change their name to Dayton because it was felt that Dayton represented better values than Dayton Township which had been given its current name since 1796 when settlers first arrived on the area known today as Dayton Township (later renamed Orchard Hills).The township changed its name back to Dayton Township on September 9th 1954 after becoming an official part of Hamilton County pursuant to an act of Congress approved on May 1st of that year titled “An Act To Regulate Commerce And Trade Among The United States” 5 U S C § 151 et seq.. As part of this process of becoming an official county entity,Dayton Township adopted resolutions authorizing reorganization into three districts according to population: east central district including parts of Cleveland; west central district including parts of Cincinnati; north central district including parts of Maumee Valley/Warrensville Heights/Henderson Hill/New Albany/Lima Park District No 2 included within Union Township No 3; each district would have two commissioners elected by popular vote instead of one commissioner appointed by the county board….In 1957–1958 there were total 120 registered voters within Dayton Township limits while there were only 36 residents living within Warrensville Heights limits…In 1980 there were 248 registered voters within both Dayton Township limits while only 134 residents lived within WarrensVILLE HEIGHTSlimits…..Since 1981 when county government has been operated using ward boundaries instead OF individual voting precincts…..As recently as Fall 2006 there were 252 registered voters inside both DYLANTOWNTOWN LIMITSAND REWARDSHIPSHEETWITHINWARRENSBURG LIMITS……Today there are exactly 234 registered voters inside both DYLANTOWNTOWN LIMITSAND REWARDSHIPSHEETWITHINWARRENSBURG LIMITSSurrounded by suburbs like Strong where property values continueto rise faster then average wages or even inner city neighborhoods…… 5 October 1800 – Captain John Anderdon Grant opens up shop at present day site called "John Anderdon's Store" 12 November 1830 – AnnaMaria Sprague Grant starts business at present day site called "AnnaMaria's Grocery" 27 June 1851 – James Horseshoe begins operations at present day site called "James Horseshoe's Mill" January 1861 - First school opened up in village named "Warrensburg" May 1st 1886 - Village becomes an officially organized county agency with three wards - East Central District (including parts Of Cleveland), West Central District ( Includingpartsof Cincinnati), NorthCentral District( Includedparts Of Maumee Valley/Warrensville Heights/Henderson Hill /New Albany /Lima ParkDistrictNo 2 Included Within UnionTownshipNo 3) 6 July 1951 - Dayton renamed after James Horseshoe following community vote

Warrensville Heights was founded in 1824 by General John Warren, who named it for his farmstead on the Ohio River. In 1836, Warrensville Heights became part of the newly created township of Sandusky. The first school in Warrensville Heights was built in 1829, and in 1840 a Baptist church was erected. The town's success as a commercial center led to its development into a major manufacturing center during the late 19th century. In 1907, Warrensville Heights merged with neighboring townships to form Sandusky Township. In 1937, Warrensville Heights was renamed for Judge Raymond E. Lewisohn Jr., Jr., who had served as an American judge at the International Court of Justice in The Hague during World War II.
