Warrensville Heights is a small town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,054 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Springfield, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Warrensville Heights was platted in 1836 by James W. Warren and others as a village on the east side of present-day Warrensville Heights Road. In 1847, it became a town and was renamed after John G. Warren, an American politician who served as Representative from Ohio's Fifth District from 1949 to 1953 and as Secretary of State from 1953 to 1957. Gun mags were first introduced into America in the early 1800s when George Washington carried pistols with him on his travels throughout the colonies. Pistol magazines were not common at that time and most weapons were carried with either one or two rounds per gun. Magazines for rifles began to be developed in earnest during the Revolution because of the need for more firepower to fight against British forces besieging Boston. However, until about 1840 pistol magazine design continued to resemble that of rifle magazines: A series of round-headed lugs connected by straps ran along both sides of the magazine well which held rounds within reach without having to remove it each time you fired a gun; this type of magazine could hold up to 26 rounds total inside its main body (in addition to any rounds that may have been loaded into other parts of the weapon). In 1840 however, US President James Kahl published an article entitled “The Rifleman's Second Manual” which proposed changes regarding firearm Magazine Design – specifically aimed at increasing accuracy and lethality when firing firearms using rifled barrels rather than smoothbore ones (see also: Winchester Repeating Arms Company). Warrensville Heights is a city in western Ohio, United States. The population was 14,752 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Warren County. The initial settlement of Warrensville Heights took place on a small farm near what is now Elmhurst Avenue and Rte 56 in 1828. The town was platted on December 12, 1830, by John Dickey and others. The name "Warrensville" was given to the community by General Nathan Bedford Forrest during the American Civil War because of its strategic location at an intersection of two major roads linking Cincinnati with Elizabethtown and Dayton. In 1853, an appointee of President James K. Polk named Drury posthumously awarded land grants to residents for their exemplary service to the nation during the Mexican-American War era. One grant included land that would later become Warrensville Heights. In 1916, Drury's widow donated additional land grants totaling ; these properties were used to create Parkland Memorial Park which still contains part of his original gift four years earlier. The city began annexing neighboring townships in 1922 when it became apparent that they would not be able to provide services such as water or sewer systems themselves within their own boundaries. By 1926, all but one township had been annexed into Warrensville Heights; East Clinton Township was added in 1928 and West Clinton Township in 1930). In 1932, thanks to local civic activism led by Mayor Harry Cavanaugh and Vice Mayor Charles Pyle (a then 16-year-old), zoning changes were made so that single family homes could no longer be built on most property within the city limits without first approval from a village board; this change helped spur construction of new neighborhoods such as Elmhurst and Willowbrook in recent decades. In 1971, Ohio University opened its doors in downtown Warrensburg Heights after years of planning and fundraising; today it remains one of the largest campus buildings in Northwest Ohio with over 52 hectares (1/4 mile)of ground area devoted to student housing alone! Warrensville Heights is a neighborhood in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. It was founded in 1892 by Morris J. Warren and his wife, Emma S. Warren, as an agricultural community on a tract of land that they had purchased from the federal government for $2,000. The name came from the Native American word wareni-haha meaning "happy hunting ground." In 1916, Morris J. Warren donated land to the city for its own incorporation and set up a school there with his son-in-law Elihu Root as its first teacher. The population of Warrensville Heights grew rapidly during World War I and World War II, reaching 100 households by 1951; it reached 255 families by 1984. The median household income peaked at $83,500 in 1987 and has since fallen modestly; however, it remains above the poverty line (the national average) according to 2005 estimates. The history of Warrensville Heights is deeply intertwined with that of Cleveland itself: its early settlers were drawn to its natural beauty and fertile soil; Cleveland's growth as an industrial center led to increased demand for housing within walking distance of Workman's Terminal Railway Station; and after annexation by Cleveland in 1920, the area became one of the most heavily populated areas in the city. In recent decades, though development has resumed somewhat slowly due to concerns about traffic congestion around downtown Cleveland, overall growth in Warrensville Heights has been relatively slow given its proximity to such important metropolitan centers as Akron and Canton. Today, though many residents remain farmers or professionals who commute into downtown Cleveland each day, much of what madeWarrensville Heights so attractive has continued to develop over time – including new schools (such as Cuyahoga Valley Community College), parks (including Euclid Park), shopping malls (including Metro Center), and businesses (such as Home Depot).
Warrensville Heights was an agricultural community in the eastern part of Ohio, United States. The community was named for General Israel Warren and his wife, Mary. The area now known as Warrensville Heights was a part of Lawrence County before it was taken over by Hamilton County in 1802. After the creation of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the area became part of that state and then Indiana. In 1892, Warrensville Heights merged with nearby Mayfield to form a new town.
