Warrensville Heights is located in the southeastern corner of Ohio, about 20 miles northwest of Cleveland. The area has been inhabited by the Mohawk and other Lenape Native Americans for many years. In 1788, a group of settlers, led by Levi Cushing, arrived in Warrensville Heights and named it after their home town of Warrensburg, Illinois. The settlement grew rapidly and by 1800 had a population of over 100 people. In 1826, John Brown and his band of militants attacked a shipment of goods from Philadelphia destined for Cincinnati. Three men were killed, including John Brown himself, and dozens were wounded when they opened fire on the wagon train. This event became known as the Wyoming massacre. At around this time, guns began to become more important to settler life in Warrensville Heights than hunting grounds or fishing spots. In 1868, the first school was built in Warrensville Heights. It was one of several schools founded in that year along with Columbiana Academy in Canton Township (now Medina), Holmesburg Academy near Lebanon (now part of Youngstown), and Wabash Female College in Lima Township (now Westlake). These schools were used to teach children from humble beginnings how to read and write as well as develop basic skills foraday life. Throughout its history, Warrensville Heights has seen some big changes: In 1893 it became an incorporated municipality; in 1936 it amalgamated with neighboring townships; and finally, in 1984 it became part of the larger city of Cleveland. Today, the community is still home to a numberof families who have resided here since before Cleveland’s founding date!

Warrensville Heights was founded in 1827 by General Philip Warren. The town was named after the Warren family, who were among the earliest settlers in the area. The Warrensville Heights community was initially a part of what is now West Side Cleveland. In 1829, the Ohio Legislature created Township 9 of Cuyahoga County and the Warrensville Heights community became a part of it. The township would later be divided into two parts: East Warrensville Heights and WestWarrensville Heights. In 1881, EastWarrensville Heights joined with neighboring Strongwood to form the city of Cleveland. In 1969, WestWarrensville Heights withdrew from Cleveland and became its own independent municipality. Today, both townships are still located within Cuyahoga County. The first settler in what is now Warrensville Heights was Captain John Englishman, who arrived in 1792 and built his home on lot 719 in what is now known as EastWarrensburg Heights. Captain Englishman's wife, Polly (nee Cook), also played an important role in early settlement at this location; she helped organized local militias and served as justice of the peace. In 1827, General Philip Warren purchased land comprising present-day EastWarrensburg Hills from Nicholas Painters for $1,000 cash plus 10% of future sale proceeds. The main road through present-day EastWarrensburg Hills ran through Captain Englishman's property; it is unclear whether this road still exists today or if it has been replaced by one more recent development (the current day border between EastWrightshireHillsandWestWarrenshieights). Many other early settlers also settled in present-dayEastWarrensburgHills including Colonel Robert Treat Paine (1785-1847), Major Gen’l James Wilkinson (1786-1868), Atherton Hyde (1800-1864) and Drury Laughlin (1801-1872). These pioneer families contributed importantly to early development at this location; they erected homes, planted crops and raised livestock until they were able to purchase additional land which they developed into theirown villages or townships. In 1881, when Cleveland emerged as a major cultural center following its incorporation as an independent city under then Mayor Ignatius Donnelly Sr., many residents relocated to new neighborhoods within downtownCLEVELAND such as Erieview/Snyder Place/Michigan Avenue/Northeast 60th St./Grandview Ave./Lake Shore Blvd./Winston Churchill Rd.. These transplants brought with them their cultures and lifestyles which had different influences on those living within downtownCLEVELAND proper - some inhabitants continued to maintain close ties with their original communities while others moved away completely for various reasons including economic opportunities or political instability within CLEVELAND itself during that era! One significant event that occurred during this time period was when President James Ketchum dedicated Eastern Parkway - previously called Euclid Road - along Grandview Ave.. This dedication represented a turning point for downtownCLEVELAND; prior to that date most activity took place along Euclid Rd which served primarily as a transportation corridor linking eastern suburbs with downtownCLEVELAND! Another important event during this time period was when Commodore Perry landed at Lake Erie Naval Station dockyard on July 15th 1830 pursuant to US Treaty #8 WITH GREAT Britain authorizing Perry's exploration OF THAT WATERFRONT! During his stay at anchor near where Grandview Ave & Eastern Parkway intersected he inspected shipbuilding facilities located adjacent TO THE SHIPBUILDING AREA...This visit marked CLEVELANEWSVILLE HEIGHTS' FIRST INTEREST IN NAVAL ENGINEERING! Today much of eastwest side Cleveland remains unchanged since these pioneering days; many homes found here remain well preserved examples of American architecture dating back to before WWI! Additionally there are numerous businesses located throughout centralCleveland currently employing thousands of people!!
