Warrensville Heights, Ohio is a small town in Southern Ohio. It is located on the banks of the Mahoning River and has a population of about 2,500 people. The area that now makes up Warrensville Heights was first settled by families from Connecticut in the early 1800s. By 1830, the community had grown to include about 100 homes. In 1836, Warrensville Heights was chartered as a township. The first postmaster was J.T. Slocum and the first justice of the peace was A.F. Gaughery.The township continued to be governed by a board of trustees until 1840 when it became an unincorporated village (township Act No 4). In 1851, Warrensville Heights became part of the newly formed Township of Bartholomew which included Mentor and most of what is now Dayton Township. In 1865, Bartholomew merged with other townships in Greene County to formthe new Warrensville Township which still includes parts of Dayton Township today (Warrensburg township #1-4 & 5-8). Gun barrel production started in earnest in this portion of Ohio beginning with local entrepreneur Elijah Woodbury’s Manufacturing Company in 1845-46 followed by others throughout much of the midwestern United States during this time period including those at Fort Wayne Arsenal and at Cincinnati's Jefferson Barracks Arsenal but gun barrels production ultimately ceased throughout most America due primarily to economic factors such as overproduction caused by war efforts or advances made by other countries during that time period

Warrensville Heights was originally settled in 1793 by Nicholas Warren and his family. The name came from the sale of a large tract of land to John Warren, who renamed it Warrensville after himself. In 1814, the village was moved to its present location and was named after General Andrew Jackson. In 1827, the village had a population of 350 people and was incorporated as a town. It experienced rapid growth during the late 19th century and attained an estimated population of 1,500 in 1900. However, by 1920, the town had shrunk to its current size due to rising prices for land in the area. After World War II, many residents moved out of Warrensville Heights due to changes in political environment and new development in nearby towns.

The community was founded by James Warren in 1841 as a post office and trading post on the Scioto River. In 1849, it became the county seat of Lorain County. The first school in Warrensville Heights was built in 1853. The first church was built in 1865. In 1938, the community changed its name to Warrensville after General George Custer, who had served with distinction in the Indian Wars and later died at Little Bighorn while leading a cavalry raid against Sioux Indians near Lakota tribal land east of Rosebud Creek.

The only school open during its entire existence was located on Topeka Street outside of downtownWarrensburg from 1865 until 1967 when it moved to nearby Shaker Heights for financial reasons.

By 1950, there were over 3,000 residents living in Warrensville Heights. The population decline began during the late 1960s as manufacturing jobs left Warrensville Heights for other towns in Ohio and elsewhere. However, some new businesses have emerged since then to help keep the town alive and its economy strong.
