The town was named for General John Warren who fought in the American Revolution and later served as sheriff of Muskingum County.

Warren, Ohio is a small community located in the southwestern corner of the state of Ohio. The population was 9,857 at the 2000 census and it has since grown to over 11,000. Warren is named after Samuel Warren, an American politician who served as Mayor of Philadelphia from 1851-1858. The town was founded by white farmers in 1809 and was originally called "New Athens". It became a village in 1832 and then a town in 1868. The population increased rapidly after World War II when manufacturing jobs moved to the area from other parts of Ohio. The economic decline of the late 1990s began to reverse this trend, but recent growth has stabilized. In 2016, Warren became one of twenty-five towns in Ohio that adopted a resolution supporting marriage equality. Warren is located on Ulysses S Grant Boulevard which runs along the southern border of Dayton County and it is bordered by Mentor to the east, Parkersburg to the west, Lebanon Township to the north, South Dublin Township to the south, and Fairborn Heights to the southeast. According to the 2010 census, there are 8 neighborhoods within Warren: Morningside Heights (a neighborhood adjacent to campus), Mayfair Gardens (an enclave near University Circle), Champlain Valley (southwest of downtown), Turtle Beach (northwest of downtown), Delaware Crossing (northwestern edge of town center), Beverly Hills (east side of town center), Westchester Hills (eastside near Interstate 71) and Highland Oaks (southwest corner). According to Forbes magazine's 2018 list for America's most livable cities,[2] Warren ranks first among all municipalities with an overall score above 85%. Warren is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 16,895 at the 2010 census. The city was founded in 1814 and named for General John Warren who led American forces against the British during the War of 1812. It was incorporated as a town in 1826. In 1907, the name of the city was changed to Warren after Democratic U.S. Senatorial candidate William Warren (1845-1922). The first settlers arrived in what is now Warren on December 12, 1800 by wagon train from Cincinnati under the leadership of Captain James Kibblewhite and his party. traders soon followed with goods they had brought overland from Upper Canada along the Great Lakes region en route to Cleveland. In 1814, Congress passed an act establishing a permanent military garrison at Sandusky on Lake Erie as part of plans to protect American independence from Britain's imperial ambitions. The new garrison consisted of 10 men under Colonel Samuel Smith and included artillery pieces and war materiel that were transported across the lake by boat or ship. When George Washington became president in 1790, he authorized $1 million for improvements at Fort George on Mud Creek about north of present-day Cleveland – including construction of a road connecting Sandusky with Cleveland – which led to increased settlement around Sandusky and other sites near Lucasville on Hudson River just beyond what is now downtown Warren . In 1825, when much larger towns consolidated into smaller ones within Cuyahoga County as part of efforts to reduce government expenses the town of Mayfield merged intoWarren while Vernon Township merged into West Clinton Township; all three towns continued to operate separately until November 1st, 1907 when they all joined together as one municipality known as "Warren." On April 14th 1905 Mayor Ayer announced that due to increasing population growth throughout central Ohio there would be no further annexations until full City status had been granted which it finally received on July 15th 1906 upon approval by both sides in a special referendum conducted by Municipal Judge Jensen Woldson.. When America becameinvolvedin World War I Major General Leonard Wood called up 4500 soldiers from local companies across central Ohio serving initially in Camp Chase outside of Dayton but quickly moved them northeastwards towards Akron where they opened fire support operations for First Battalion 326th Infantry Regiment then 5/11ths Battalion 73rd Illinois Infantry Regiment nicknamed “The Grits” during July 1915 Battle Of Gettysburg…………………. After World War I ended General MacArthur ordered everyone out OF THE COUNTRY Except FORONE MILLION AMERICANS WHO TOOK OVER VIETNAM AND NAMED THEM THE MOSUL GROUP….. On October 15 2014 members OF THE CLEVELAND PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION came TO CITY Hall TO SEE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN DISMISSED FROM THEIR JOBS AFTER MAKING CLAIMS THAT THE CITY WAS NON PAYABLE FOR SERVICE DATE 01/10/2014….. Mayor Frank Jackson responded BY EXERCISING HIS RIGHT AS A LAWYER TO SUE THESE MEMBERS IN COURT….. However ON OCTOBER 22ND 2014 THIS CASE WAS ARRESTED BY CONVICTED FELON UPON A WARRANT OUT OF CLEVELAND COUNTY JAIL AFTER APPEALING FROM AN ORDER FROM OUR CHIEF JUSTICE… NOW THIS CASE IS STILL BEING HEARD IN COURT……….
