In 1847, Warren was founded by Joshua Fenton and James Caldwell. The town was named after General George Washington, who had fought in the Revolution. In 1855, it became a city. In 1907, the National Firearms Act made it illegal to sell firearms without a license from the government. This law led to the Gun Control Act of 1968, which placed restrictions on gun ownership and trade.

Warren is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,834 at the 2000 census. The village of Warren is located in the town. The first settler in the area that would become Warren was John Banister in 1814. He and his family moved from Connecticut to what is now Muskingum County when he became a landowner there. By 1825, the community had developed into a small village with five stores and one school. In 1830, the Township of Muskingum was organized and Warren became part of it. In 1836, merchant George Caldwell bought 2,000 acres (800 hectares) of land east of present-day Warren for $1 per acre ($6 per hectare). This purchase set off an agricultural revolution in central Ohio because Caldwell offered to sell his land at low prices to farmers who could not afford to pay more than $1 per acre! This helped create what is known as the "Caldwell Bicentennial" farm system which lasted until World War II! The first crops raised by these early farmers were corn and potatoes; later they grew wheat, soybeans, apples and other vegetables. 1/2 mile west of today's downtown Warren sits the remains of one of America's earliest churches – First Baptist Church (chartered on October 15th 1784). Completed just three years after American independence from Great Britain was achieved, this Episcopal structure served as a meeting place for men from all over rural Ohio and beyond before becoming an active missionary center working among Native Americans living along the Great Lakes region during America’s Founding Era!

Warren, Ohio is a city in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 21,812 as of the 2010 census. The city was named for General John Warren of Massachusetts and his wife Dorothy. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron metropolitan area. The town of Warren was platted on March 14, 1814 by two brothers, Amos and Samuel Fordyce. The town became a village on December 15, 1827. On November 3rd, 1838 the village merged with the town of Mentor to form the current city of Warren. The first post office in the city was established at 219 North Main Street on February 13th, 1840. On January 1st 1865 the post office moved to 601 South High Street and remain there until it closed on May 1st 1966 due to lack of customers; however mail continued to be delivered by horse and truck until that time. Warren has been home to many businesses over its history including Whetstone Lumber Company (founded in 1857), American Can Co., Jardine Rubber Company (founded in 1916), First National Bank (founded in 1907), Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Erie Well Control Company (established in 1938), and Holmes' Drug Store (established in 1905). A large number of these businesses were destroyed during World War II with most going out of business or moving away after being bombed by Japan or bombed by America during World War II; however one exception which survived is Goodyear Tire & Rubber which continues today as Akebono Tire & Rubber Co..
