Warren, Ohio is home to the largest gun manufacturer in the United States. The company, Colt Firearms, has been manufacturing firearms in Warren since 1836. The town was founded by Nicholas Colt and his brother Samuel Colt on a small farm near the village of Springfield. In 1837, the brothers built a store and pistol range in what is now the east side of town. The first rifle that Nicholas Colt produced was called the "Kentucky Rifle." In 1878,Nicholas Colt died and his brother Samuel took over production of firearms for Colt Firearms. During this time, Samuel also developed another firearm product called the "Barrett Model 1." This weapon became very popular and helped make Colts one of America's leading firearms manufacturers. In 1907, Samuel Colt passed away and his son John took over production at Colts. John finally retired from business in 1964 and handed control of Colts over to his grandson Devin Patrick Carney who currently runs it as an family business. Today,Colt Firearms manufactures a wide variety of firearms including pistols (including revolvers), rifles (including shotguns), muzzleloaders, airguns, target pistols and more. It remains one of America's most venerable firearm companies with products dating back to1836

Warren, Ohio is a census-designated place (CDP) in the Athens-Clarion County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,851 at the 2010 census. Warren is part of the Toledo–Middletown–Beachwood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1820 by Captain John C. Warren as a small settlement on the Scioto River. In 1824, Captain Warren donated over 1,000 acres (400 hectares) of land to the town of Athens for its incorporation into Athens County. The first post office in Warren opened in 1825 and it continued until 1903. The community's name may be derived from Captain John C. Warren or from his son-in-law Colonel Nathaniel Ghent who served as mayor of Athens during that time period; Ghent had been born in nearby Clarion City and died there some years later while serving as mayor of Athens. In 1830, General James Ketchum relieved Governor Edward Mifflin of his duties as commander of Ulysses S. Grant's army during the Second Seminole War and Ketchum made his home at Xenia on the Scioto River near what is now downtown Athens proper; he named it Ketchum Heights after himself and raised funds for development within which much older homes still stand today including one known as "Ketchum Place" which once sat atop an ancient mound on Xenia's main square filled with pottery shards dating back to 1200 BC! Captain John C. Warren also donated land to form what became known as Broadway between Xenia and Beechwood Avenues & between Xenia & Perry Streets; this too became a center for commerce with brickyards being built along both streets (one such brickyard still exists). By 1840, retailing had become an important aspect of life here with stores like The Dry Goods Store being open upriver from downtown just off Broadway Alley/Perry Street across from present day Walgreen’s Pharmacy building – making this then one of America’s most bustling commercial areas outside New York City! One early resident who lived here for many years was Drury Welles – a dentist who practiced medicine out front his house on Cleveland Avenue until 1906 when he moved inside where he continue to practice until his death in 1956! One notable local business owner who operated outfitted stores throughout central Ohio during this time period was J B Simonds whose store fronts can still be seen today at 9th & Thames Streets just east of downtown Athena! James Ketchum later served three terms as president pro tempore (the third term being concurrent with General George Catlett's term), presiding over territorial government changes within the United States resulting from annexation by Mexico following the Mexican–American War; these changes included creationofWarren Township located adjacent to modern Toledo! During this time period too another notable local business proprietor – businessman Caleb Gibbs – grew rich manufacturing goods used by farmers all throughout central Ohio becoming one of Toledo’s largest employers & wellspring for economic growth (& wealth!) over more than 150 years! Captain John C., wife Sarah Jane Key Randolph (b 1799 d 1860) had 8 children: 2 sons Captains Nathaniel Ghent (1836-1912) & George Catlett Jr.(1840-) 2 daughters Jennie Cobb Payne(1842-) 3 sons Emmett Dayton Welch(1847-) 4 daughters Anna Seward Smith(1851-) 5 daughters Ida May Wright(1855-)
