The Wadsworth Rifle and Pistol Company was formed in 1885 by George Wadsworth and the sons of Colonel John Wadsworth. The company produced rifles, pistols, shotguns, and revolvers. They were a part of the National Firearms Association from 1886 to 1934. In 1903, the company moved its manufacturing operation from Cincinnati to Wadsworth. The company produced firearms until it ceased operations in 1934.

It was brought by the city of Wadsworth, Ohio, against an individual who they claimed had infringed upon their municipal ordinance by owning and carrying a handgun. The individual in question, Johnnie Ray Cook, argued that he was not violating the ordinance because he had a state-issued concealed carry license which allowed him to carry unarmed weapons in public. The trial court sided with the city and convicted Cook of misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon. He appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court, but lost.
Wadsworth, Ohio is a census-designated place located in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census, Wadsworth had a total population of 14,711. The town was founded in 1814 by Colonel George Wadsworth and his wife Martha as Waverly Heights. It was named after James Wadsworth, an early settler on the Great Miami River. Wadsworth was first settled by Methodists and Baptists who came from Kentucky during the 1800s. After General William Henry Harrison's death in 1826, many Quakers moved to Wadsworth because they felt it would be a safe haven for religious refugees from Indiana. In 1868 the town became part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area and lost its independent status until 1980 when it regained it as an incorporated town.

Wadsworth was founded by George Washington in 1792 as a small village on what is now the border of today's Wadsworth Township and Hamilton Township. In 1871, Wadsworth became an incorporated municipality with a mayor-council form of government, which helped make it one of the most Progressive towns in America. Wadsworth experienced several economicidents throughout its history including three times as much retail sales per capita as Cleveland; two industrial successes; and four high school football championships (1913-2015). Despite these successes, however, Wadsworth has been struggling financially over recent years. In 2016, it merged with neighboring unincorporated community Clifton to become Clifton-Wadsworth Municipal Corporation effective February 1st 2017 The first settler in what is now Wadsworth Township was George Washington who arrived there from Virginia in early 1792 while surveyors were mapping out new land grants for President George Washington Jr..Washington's settlement may have been more accidental than intentional because he had no residential property or any buildings other than a barn which he used for shelter during his travels through central Ohio..In 1793 whenGeorge Washington established his Village called Gwerwoldtstown near present day downtown Cincinnati his family built their first log cabin next door to this original cabin only 10 years later they would move 8 miles east to build another home that would become their final home here at Gwerwoldtstown renamed after them Gwerwoldtowne (later Waverly) . After some time Presidents James Kintyre & John Adams moved into this house #4 also known asAdams House located off High Street about 1802 ..This house remained unchanged until 1840 when Mr James Fenton bought it & moved into it also renaming it after himself Waverly House ..In 1830s Mr Jno Bickley bought lot 4 from James Fenton also renaming it Worthington Courthouse ..By 1850 there are 12 families living here all together just 2 miles north of Downtown Cincinnati making this one of the most densely populated areas around !! Mrs Lizzy Weednall lived here until she died age 92 years old on September 5th 1948 right before her 89 year old daughter Loretta took over ..After Mrs Weednall death her daughter Loretta continued living heretil her own death on May 22nd 1963 Rufus Weednall Jr took over from then until 1975 when he passed away leaving behind 3 daughters who continue living here today . Moses Greenough settled in what is now Wadsworth Township sometime between 1800 and 1810 and made his home downriver from where Dayton eventually developed later that same year..Greenough probably beganinka fishing along the Miami River where he landed some large clams which led him to start manufacturing clamshell pails at his business soon afterwards..When Greenough realized that demand for clams was greater than supply he started exporting them so soon thereafter Bradford Manufacturing Company was born !! This company manufactured everything FROM farm tools to dinnerware including pioneer Martha Cook’s famous clam chowder dish served up at many an “ American Legion” meeting !! In 1812 Moses sold Bradford Manufacturing Company to Ephraim Hallett who renamed it Hallett & Sons manufactory factory etc…..After selling Hallett Brothers Factory unto David Sibley about 1840 Sibley closed shop & Produce Co opened up but failed within a few years because lack of raw materials caused by Internal Revenue raids……Samuel Wade purchased Sibley’s produce operation about 1860 and operated it successfully until 1870…………Heather Ann Wade ran Heather Ann’s Produce Shop from 1870 thru 1907…………….It should be noted that starting in 1916 African Americans worked side by side with Whites at many local businessesowned by Whites like Sam Wade 😀 This shared experience added an extra level o
