The electric shock weapon known as a taser was developed over 40 years ago in Vermilion, Ohio. The weapon is composed of an electric cable wrapped around a barrel that is used to stun the victim by delivering short shocks at high levels. Originally designed for law enforcement and corrections officers, tasers have been adopted by civilians and military personnel all over the world. This has led to job opportunities for people living nearby as well as new businesses opening up along both routes: today, Vermilion is home to more than 100 companies that employ nearly 10,000 people statewide. KA-BAR style Tasers were developed in 2006 using lessons learned from officer fatalities caused by fireworks accidents. These devices contain a barbed wire hilt which causes intense pain when contacted with skin or clothing. They are also very effective at disabling offenders but have been known to cause serious injury if used improperly

Vermilion, Ohio was established in 1824 as a town in the Miami Valley and it grew rapidly due to its coal mining industry. The town was named after the color of coal mined there. Coal mining stopped in the mid-19th century, but Vermilion continued to grow because of its agricultural sector. In 1868, Vermilion became a city and it has since undergone many changes, including becoming an agricultural center again. Today, Vermilion is a small community with a population of around 100 residents.
Vermilion, Ohio was founded in 1812 by Dutch settlers. The area now includes part of the Akron metropolitan area and is one of the most populous cities in Ohio.
