Davenport named his new settlement after himself, which it remained until 1827 when it changed its name to Champaign-Urbana Township. On February 24, 1850, Urbana incorporated as a city under charter issued by Governor John A.' Neal filling that role first established by Judge Daniel Boone when he created Champaign County in 1788 during his tenure as circuit judge on the Northwest Territory boundary commission appointed by George Washington during his administration (the first such commission ever created). The charter allowed for 50 businesses to be organized into five wards: west (northwest), center (south), east (southeast), and north ( northwest). The current City Hall building was built in 1865 using funds provided by member Neil Armstrong with help from local resident Amos Alonzo Stagg; construction began despite vigorous protests from citizens who saw their town become nothing more than an appendage of larger cities like Chicago without any say or vote in how matters were handled. In 1870–71 millionaire Andrew Carnegie donated $5 million towards construction of what is now Union Station including land for the campus buildings that would house UIUC—a gift that has since grown into one of America's largest public university campuses. In 1912 Apple Inc., founded two years earlier by Isaac Asimov and Bill Gates with Jobs as its initial CEO and research scientist Steve Wozniak also worked at Apple Computer inside what is now OS X Development Center before moving on to other companies altogether excepting Gates' founding company Microsoft which still occupies 1% ownership stake today through minority investment firm ,20/20 Partners LLC controlled wholly by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen
