After becoming popular in Spain in the 16th century due to its lack of Archers during this time period Armory started manufacturing cannons which could only be fired with bows or crossbows which required people to get their hands on these weapons so they could fire them properly (Fletcher 1911). In 1868 when Colt began producing the first revolver a new type of firearm was born- the self-loading revolver(Munroe 1898). This firearm consisted of a rod that was inserted into an armature at the back end which caused a cartridge to be fed into it while being pulled by hand rather than using a lever system like earlier revolvers.(Bennett 1969) In 1896 Winchester began production on their Model 1892 rifle which became well known for its accuracy and reliability.(Dunn 1945) By 1912 all civilized countries had machineguns as part of their Armed Forces with World War 1 seeing over 25 million casualties across all types(Goffman 1951).
