Upper Arlington is a small town in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. It is located on the west bank of the Olentangy River, just east of downtown Cincinnati. The population was 11,368 at the 2010 census. Upper Arlington's ZIP code is 45203. The name "Upper Arlington" comes from a grant by George Washington to John Adams in 1784. The village was laid out in 1811 by Solomon Israel Wright and named for General James Wilkinson, who had been killed in a skirmish near West Point two years earlier. The village had 1 business block and 16 homes when it was first settled in 1811, but it rapidly grew because of its location on the banks of the river and its access to transportation (railroad and canal). In 1836, Upper Arlington became one of six townships included in what would become Hamilton County; it remained an agricultural center until after World War II when industry began to take hold. In 1950, Lower Arlington absorbed much of what remained of Upper Arlington; this left only 8 acres remaining within Lower Arlington's boundaries which were given to Brush Township as part of a land swap agreement that year. Brush Township then annexed much more territory from other municipalities over time culminating with incorporation as Ross Township on November 3, 1998. Today, Upper Arlington remains an agricultural community with many family farms producing fruits and vegetables as well as corn, soybeans, applesauce/butterfly eggs and cheese products; manufacturing businesses include two computer companies and two shoe factories along with several restaurants including Chili’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina (now known as Churros), Big Joe’s BBQ & Pizza Place (now closed), Pizzeria Bianco Italian Restaurant (closed) and Patsy’s Soda Shop & Tavern- now known as Pizza Hut International Plaza across from I-70/Ohio State University campus where students often gather for football games or basketball games during fall semester breaks

Upper Arlington is a town in Delaware County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,821 at the 2010 census. Upper Arlington is part of the Columbus Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Upper Arlington were members of the French and Indian War Expedition in 1754. Captain George Rogers Clark's group of frontiersmen crossed from Canada into Ohio on October 12, 1755, during the Mackinac Bridge Expedition and explored the lower Peninsula region before reaching what is now Upper Arlington on December 10th. The area that would become Upper Arlington was part of Shawnee Township until 1802 when it became part of Delaware County. In 1803, John Muhlenberg founded Muhlenberg Paper Company in what is today Lower Arlington with land he had purchased from the Native Americans near present-day Xenia. Muhlenberg established a paper mill there that continued operation until 1901 when it merged with James J. Hill's Dayton Paper Company to form Dayton-Muhlenberg Paper Corporation which still operates as a paper company today with its headquarters in Dayton. In 1907, Delaware County formed an administrative unit called "Upper Arlington" which included all of Centre Township east of High Street and all but one block west of Market Street including present day Lower Arlington The first school in Upper Arlington was Congregational Church School opened in 1801 by Revs Edward Cushing and Samuel Morse along with others associated with Congregationalism across eastern Ohio who felt they needed access to education for their children while they fought against British forces stationed along the East Coast during the warlord Tecumseh's Indian Wars campaign (1812-14). After Reverend Morse died young in 1802 his widow married Josiah Stiles (1786-1865) a wealthy lawyer from Cleveland who helped establish Stiles College southwest of downtown Cleveland before moving its operations to what is today downtown Cleveland where he became president and headmaster beginning in 1824.
