In Upper Arlington, Ohio, the gun swivels history began in 1907. That year, a group of men from the town formed the Citizens' Committee to Promote Gun Safety. The committee met to discuss ways to make it easier for people in Lower Arlington and other towns north of Dayton to get their firearms. They decided on a system where someone could buy a new or used gun at an auction, and then turn it in to the sheriff's office for cleaning and storage. This was known as "The Pistol Program." In 1912, another group of men from Upper Arlington formed the Second Municipal Rifle Club. This club wanted to help keep guns safe and protect citizens from criminals. They decided to create a standard pistol grip that all handguns must have. This way, anyone who didn't have agun grip would be able to purchase one easily. In 1924, two more groups were created: the Third Municipal Rifle Club and the Fourth Municipal Rifle Club. These clubs wanted to continue helping keep guns safe and protect citizens from criminals by creating standard pistols with different grips that wouldn't work with other rifles. In 1935, Congress passed The National Firearms Act (NFA). This act required all handgun manufacturers in America to create new types of pistols that couldn't be used with other types of rifles. As a result of this law, many people in Upper Arlington started buying handguns specifically for use in Lower Arlington! Swivels continued being made until 1938 when they finally became illegal because they were considered unlicensed firearm parts!

It is bordered by Lebanon to the north, Medina to the east and south, Geauga Heights to the west and northwest, and Trumbull Township to the southwest. The name "Upper Arlington" comes from its location above the Muskingum River on top of high hills overlooking central Columbus. The Town of Upper Arlington was organized in 1814 as a result of an effort by General Anthony Wayne to improve communication between his army camps around central Ohio and Lafayette's army besieging Paris. In 1825, Sir George Ballantyne donated land for a public square in what is now Upper Arlington Township. This square served as home base for both local government until 1892 when it moved into new facilities on Park Avenue in downtown Columbus. In 1870, following survey work done by Jno McNaught that showed no real village development near High Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues (later renamed First Street), Athens-based developer Elisha Abram bought 3 acre(s) blocks at right angles to High Street from John Dickson for $2 per acre ($40 total). Abram developed these acres into what became known as "The Village". Abram sold most of his holdings in 1898 but left some land undeveloped which he called "Abram's Forest", later renamed Gaston Park after him. In 1907 he donated 6 more acres (200 total) along High Street adjoining The Village so that they could form a complete town center with library, hospital/ambulance services, post office/telephone plant and other important services which are still operative today including modern day bank buildings located next door to Lutheran Church on North Third Avenue across from Mackenzie Community Center on South Third Avenue Northwest

The growth of industry and transportation led to rapid suburbanization of Upper Arlington during the 1920s and 1930s; now only about one-third of the population remains within the original village limits. The history of Upper Arlington begins with early pioneers who settled in what is today Upper Arlington Township in 1814. They were farmers who took up land on the Scioto River because they could not find good ground elsewhere in Medina County. One group of settlers named themselves "Fishers" because they fished for salmon from downstream when there were no other opportunities for them to do so at that time on the river bed between where it flows into Cincinnati and Columbus proper。 In 1830, two years after settlement began, some 50 families rented 12 lots from John Dickson for $2 per year each – making Upper Arlington one of the earliest towns in Medina Countyс
