In 1813, Captain Jonathan Trumbull explored what would become Upper Arlington while military troops under General Andrew Jackson were searching for Indian leaders near Chillicothe Indiana for punishment after their defeat at Fallen Timbers Creek Massacre that year. On November 3rd, 1813, Trumbull discovered what would become known as Trumbull Park when he took possession of two parcels of land along Muskingum River which included present day Lower Arlington Township On February 13th 1840 Charles Dickens wrote about "The Pickwick Papers" while living at 14 New Street where he continued working until his death three years later In 1865 Union general Ulysses S Grant ordered all white citizens within five miles of Cincinnati must leave their homes or be destroyed - this order applied specifically to residents inLower Arlington Township where nearly two-thirds were Irish American men and women fleeing Confederate soldiers marching through Cincinnati looking for work during the American Civil War Aftermath: Many homes were burned or left abandoned as refugees flooded into Lower Arlington Township; some developers began erecting housing units above ground level out of patriotism rather than rebuild following war-time destruction

However, upperARlington continued to petition for annexation into Lower Arlington until 1840 when Muskingum County voted against annexing them because they felt that Upper Arlington wasn't living up to their expectations of having a quality community – an issue that still remains today among some residents of what used to be called "Upper Arlington". In 1847-48 during the American Civil War, Upper Arlington closed its schools due to lack of supplies but quickly reopened after General Ulysses S Grant arrived in town with his army and supplies arrived on horseback! After the war ended, Lower Arlington annexed Upper Arlington without any problem so that all residents were merged into one community once again! In 1954-55 when Route 317 was built throughLower Arlandreria Township it impacted businesses near downtown who relocated their operations out into lower arlington since there weren't enough exits off I-77/I-76 so business owners had no choice but to move! Although this disrupted traffic flow for awhile businesses persevered though! In fact many restaurants still exist withinLower Arlandreria Township even though they're now located outside of Downtown Akron limits
