The Upper Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club was founded on December 15, 1892 by local residents. The club started out as an informal group of people who enjoyed shooting handguns in the backyard, but soon realized that they had a lot in common with one another and wanted to join together to organize their own shoots. Upper Arlington is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located east of Columbus and north-northwest of Cleveland. The population was 26,957 at the 2010 census, making it the largest community in Mahoning County. Upper Arlington is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. The name "Upper Arlington" first appeared on maps in 1812 as part of what was then called Scioto Township (now Delaware County). In 1960, when Greater Cleveland was formed from several municipalities including Upper Arlington, it became one single municipality with a population over 50,000 people. In recent years there has been much discussion about whether or not to annex or reincorporate Lower Arlington into Upper Arlington due to differences in services and infrastructure between the two communities. A study done last year showed that annexation would result in an increase in taxes for both villages but would provide more significant benefits for Upper Arlington due to its location withinMahoning County and proximity to other major cities such as Cleveland and Akron.

Upper Arlington is a small town in Pickering County, Ohio, located on the border of Cleveland and Akron. The population was 5,090 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron Combined Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Upper Arlington was John Pemberton in 1813. He erected a log cabin on what is now West Side Road. A post office was established in 1815, and soon after other settlers arrived: Wm. Smith from Rhode Island, David Bartlett from Connecticut, John White from Maryland, and Peter Sellers from England. In 1830, George Washington Arpin bought land east of present-day Fifth Avenue and built him a home which he called "Arpin's Grove." In 1834 the town site was selected for incorporation as Upper Arlington Township by a vote of its citizens; it became one of fourteen townships in Stark County that year. In 1842 the Town House (now Park Square) was built on what is now Green Street; it served as the township hall until 1915 when it burned down. The first schoolhouse was also built here – this one still stands today (it has been used as apartments). In 1870 Upper Arlington opened its own telephone line; it continued to offer service until 1973 when all Ohioans were required to use local phone companies instead. On July 4th, 1907, Lower Arlington celebrated its centennial with an event attended by dignitaries from across northeastern Ohio including President William McKinley and Mayor George Earle Higgins Jr.. WhenLower Arlington Residents voted to annex nearby Eastlake into their municipality in 1916 they did so knowing that their annexation would not be honored if Upper Arlington retained its independent status quo; however this decision later found favor with both municipalities due to economic reasons then as well as public opinion shifting towards amalgamation throughout Northeast Ohio during World War II due to wartime production needs at Lake Erie Naval Shipyard (later USS Perry). On November 3rd 1920 Lower Arlington residents voted unanimously to become an incorporated city with City Hall located at 219 Euclid Ave., just four blocks south of Main Street between Third Avenue and Elm street - making Lower Arlington one of only two cities within Stark County (the other being Highland Heights) that achieved full membership status within the new county government while still maintaining some form of independence underneath city governance.
