In 1871, Upper Arlington began to be home to a Gunsmiths Institute. This institute was started by Amos Kendall and his son-in-law, James Hickey. The institute was modeled after the American Institute of Steel Mechanics which had been started in 1851 by George Stephenson. In 1872, the institute moved from downtown to what is now known as the Kendall Building on Main Street. The institute continued to operate until 1918 when it merged with the Ohio Valley Armory Company (OVAC). The former Upper Arlington Gunsmiths Institute building on Second Street became OVAC’s first gunnery school in 1922. The school continued operations until 1939 when it closed due to World War II munitions production shortages. It reopened in 1945 as the Ohio Valley Arsenal Museum before being closed again in 1978. It reopened as the Upper Arlington History Center in 1990 and currently operates as an historical museum for Upper Arlington and surrounding area. Upper Arlington is a small town in far northeastern Ohio. It is located on the border of Bedford and Ross counties, about 12 miles west of the city of Cleveland. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. Upper Arlington is part of the Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Upper Arlington were French traders in 1692. An early settler was John Smith, who arrived in 1764 from Pennsylvania. In 1801 John Fenton opened a gristmill here that still operates today as Fenton’s Mill & Grains facility. The milling industry declined after World War II but has revived in recent years with new investments including an open-air mill and a distillery inside an old schoolhouse on Third Street near US Route 624. Upper Arlington became chartered as a village in 1825 and incorporated as a townsite in 1876. Its name comes from Pulteney Fork (now Norton Road), which flows into Cedar Creek through its center and thence into Lake Erie at nearby Amherstburg before joining the larger community of Eastlake along its western edge. In 1907 Upper Arlington annexed neighboring Bedford Township; this made it possible for Upper Arlington to become one of only two communities within Ross County to have both township status and full municipal authority covering all aspects of local government save for fire protection (the other being Napoleon). With annexation came increased access to services granted only to those municipalities with separate governing boards such as police, libraries, schools, trash collection and waste disposal services – features enjoyed by most smaller communities within Ross County but not typically found within villages or townships like Upper Arlington’s own mixture of rural/urban districts with some significant commercial areas outside their boundaries but within easy reach by car or bus service). This variety of governance has allowed for growth Throughout history: during its incorporation days Lower Arlington had just 7 residents while today it has over 100; during annexation time Bedford Township contained just 20 residences while today it contains over 120; annexation also saw the addition of three streetscapes - New Market Boulevard across Cedar Creek from Lower Arlington onto Bedford Street between Elmira Road and Freedom Drive NW; Euclid Avenue extending eastward from Freedom DriveNW through Parkland subdivision into Niles Heights subdivision - these additions housing properties acquired by Upper Arlington after annexation becoming available for sale or purchase following designation as “ annexed territory ” according to town board minutes) . This process continues unabated with each successive annexation resulting in increases in population density (from 2 residents per square mile when Newark Avenue was annexed to 25 residents per square mile when Euclid Avenue became annexed) while also reducing Greenfield Township’s borders significantly distanceifying its core population from overlooking upper Arnoldsville proper even though that part includes almost all current day retail development within walking distance (see map below for complete boundaries)) . In short , since 1907 Upperville has seen explosive growth due largely to annexation ! Current Mayor: Jeffrey Siegel [image] Jeffrey Siegel has been mayor since January 1st 2019! He joined the City Council prior to that date where he served on Community Development Committee 3rd Ward which oversees education issues including zoning changes etc., Parks & Recreation Committee 4th Ward which oversees social welfare programs such as food stamps/drug assistance etc., Streetscape Commission members are elected based upon voter turnout so if you live anywhere else you don't vote!!! Jeff's been quoted saying things like "I'm just here because I can" – this guy knows how to get things done!

Upper Arlington is a village in Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Upper Arlington is located on the Scioto River and developed as a mill town during the 18th century. In 1814, it was made an incorporated village. Upper Arlington is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area.

In 1795, the village of Upper Arlington was founded by Captain John Armstrong. The village grew from a small hamlet to a thriving community in just five years. By 1800, Upper Arlington had a store, school, and several homes. In 1812, the first church was built in Upper Arlington. The town prospered until 1815 when troops under General Anthony Wayne burned down the town's stores and homes in retribution for military raids into Ohio conducted by Wayne's army. Upper Arlington continued to grow until it reached its peak population of around 1,500 people in 1825. However, due to increasing competition from neighboring towns and the spread of disease through the area during this time period (particularly smallpox), Upper Arlington lost much of its population over time. Its decline can be seen in census reports that list Lower Arlington as the county seat between 1830 and 1840. By 1860, Upper Arlington had only 20 residents remaining while Lower Arlington had more than 200 residents numbering themselves as "Upper Arlingtons." Despite this large difference in population size, both villages celebrated their centennial anniversary same year with public ceremonies and speeches from local officials including Mayor James Ahern and Supervisor Samuel Paulding. The largest event at either celebration was an inflammatory oration delivered by then-Mayor Ahern on behalf of Lower Arlington about how much better off they were than Upper Arlington which he considered "an unhealthy place full of Indians". This speech quickly caused some friction within UpperArlington between those who felt insultedby Ahern's remarks and those who felt that he should have taken kindly to what LowerArlington saw as an attempt to degrade them politically. Nevertheless, both villages marked their 100th anniversaries with similar events
