Upper Arlington, Ohio is a small town in the northwest corner of the United States. It is located on the Scioto River near Painesville and is adjacent to Youngstown, Ohio. The population was 7,594 at the 2010 census. Upper Arlington has a rich history with firearms. The community began as part of what was then and is now known as "The Township of Harrington" on the west side of the Scioto River. In 1836, this area became part of what became Upper Arlington when it was annexed by Youngstown. Upper Arlington's first firearm store was opened in 1868 by Jno. Bigham and Elisha Goodrich (both natives of Canada). Goodrich had earlier opened a gun shop in nearby Xenia, Ohio. By 1870, Upper Arlington's only firearm store had closed its doors. However, due to increased demand for firearms in locales such as Youngstown and Cleveland following the Civil War, Jno.'s son-in-law Amos Dixon reopened Lower Arlington's first firearm store in 1871 after purchasing his father-in-law's business from him. As result many companies entered into the handgun manufacturing industry including Smith & Wesson who purchased Colt Arms Company from Chicago Armory company . In 1949 Smith & Wesson merged with Remington Arms Company forming The Winchester Corporation

A post office was established at Newburgh in 1903; however mail was delivered only twice a week because there were not enough cars available for deliveries outside borough limits! In 1912 Jorgensen Bros.'s department store opened across Superior Avenue from their grocery store - becoming one of Downtown Akron's most popular shopping destinations for residents throughout much of its existence). By 1916 when Ohio Revised Code took effect all municipalities were required by law to have a fire department! In 1924 Lower Arlington Borough dissolved into individual townships again but several stores within Lower Arlington continued operations as part of Bridgeport Township which continued until 1978 when bridge replacement funding became available that allowed all shops closure effective January 1st 1977 providing notification 3 months prior! This caused many business owners within lower ArlINGTON TO WAIT FOR MORE EXPANSION IN BUSINESS THEN THEY EVER HAVE BEFORE!
