Twinsburg is a small town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,823 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Springfield, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1825 by two brothers who bought land from the Shawnee tribe. The area that became Twinburg was named for them: John Twinsburg and Hiram Twinsburg. The first store in Twinburg opened in 1827. A sawmill and grist mill were built in 1830-31; the first post office opened in 1830. The first school was organized in 1830; it taught reading, writing, arithmetic, and geometry to children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. In 1834-35, twin brothers William and Jesse Wurtz built a large grist mill on High Street near where today's Walmart is located. They also erected a log cabin used as their store until 1840 when they moved to what is now their home on Elm Street. In 1850-51 twins Jacob and Wilhelm Kapp erected another log cabin on Cemetery Road opposite Spring Creek which served as their jail until 1865 when they built a more permanent jail next door on State Route 422 instead which still stands today (it has been renovated several times). Two brick churches were built around 1860: First Presbyterian Church (now Webster United Methodist Church) on Elm Street south of Center Road (later renamed Delaware Avenue) and Second Presbyterian Church (now Stroudsburg United Methodist Church) to the north of Elm Street near State Route 422 about halfway between Cedar Point Park Rd./Route 422 & State Route 422 & Delaware Avenue). Both churches burned down within 10 years but replaced with new buildings soon after each other.. Twinburg had its own telephone system established by 1880 which continued until 1908 when it merged with Dayton's phone system In 1907twin brothers Amos & Orville Underwood erected an addition to their home that became known as "the Underwoods House" later becoming known as "the Wurtzes' Manor". From then until 1916 there was only one grocery store open three days per week called the 'Grocery Store'. That store closed permanently due to prohibition but reopened under different ownership several times through out its history before closing again in 1951 . Two schools operated side by side during this time: First School District No 3 operated from 1907-1911 while Second School District No 1 operated from 1911-1920 . One canal led into town from Beavercreek Lake - it stopped working circa 1915 so most people got water from Canalside supply house across SR 422 . Between 1903-1905 two homes were added onto Main Street - these were later known as 'Phelps Place' ('Old Phelps Place') & 'New Phelps Place'. One big event happened during this time - both villages united against drunkards living off of state grants/taxes called a “Drunkard” Raid which ended up causing quite some damage ($2 million dollars worth total damage) .. After World War I came World War II; Twinburg residents put all their effort into helping with military service including manufacturing munitions such as planes or rockets etc.; local businesses benefited greatly too especially since many soldiers lived right hereabouts When war ended things slowly startedspeeding up because no one wanted jobs doing nothing All factories shuttered except one(car production plant), Which still exists today making cars for America By 1955 almost half of all products made herewere exported although we never really hit our stride like other communities did Postwar growth slowed somewhat due largely to increasing competition from larger towns nearby howevertwin brother Amos Underwood began purchasing property east of town along US 421 raising money through various sales efforts eventually purchased over 100 acres (mostly wooded hillocks), creating what is now called Underwood Park nameakesakeof his fathers purchase someplace he always wanted to live . He resided there until his death in 1984 Although not much has changed sincehis day although development efforts have increased over time

In 1836, the town became a part of the United States. The population exploded as railroads began transporting goods to and from Ohio. By 1860 Twinburg had over 10,000 residents. It experienced another boom during the late 19th century thanks to shipments of goods coming through the port at Monmouth Junction. During World War II Twinburg was one of two U.S. towns located on both sides of a military airfield that was used for training pilots and bombers. The airfield closed in 1945 and most of the town was destroyed by fire that year; however, some buildings still stand today including the White House which formerly served as a post office.
