Twinsburg is an unincorporated community in the suspend animation production town of Twinsburg, Ohio, United States. It was founded by John and Martha Kapp in 1907 as a small farming village near their farmstead on the edge of the Allegheny Plateau. The Kapps sold their land to the city of Twinsburg in 1950, and it annexed by the town in 1955.
Twinsburg, Ohio is a small town located in the Athens-Middletown, Ohio area. The population was 5,717 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Village of Twinsburg was established in 1836 as a result of land sales by James K. Lewis and his wife Lucy. The first post office in Twinsburg was opened in 1851. The village was incorporated on December 19, 1881. The town name may be derived from two brothers who were born there: John and Daniel Twinsburg. They founded the business enterprise known as the Brothers Twinsburgh mills which manufactured flour, lead ore and other products for local residents until it closed in 1907. During World War I the United States government purchased about 1/4 acre (0.2 km²) of land east of Main Street for use as an airfield; but because no buildings could be erected on this site due to lack of funds, it became known as " Twinburgh Airport." This airport served twin towns within Dayton Township until it closed in 1969 when Dayton Township merged with Middletown Township to form Butler County. In 2006, Twinburgh's website said that its population had shrunk to 3 people since 2000 due to gentrification within nearby Middletown Township such as increased development around downtown and new housing developments near Highway 6 between Clintonville and Northgate Roads). However, according to a 2018 study by Forbes magazine,[1] Twinburgh has seen significant growth over the past 10 years due to its location minutes’ walk from both Downtown Dayton and Middletowntown Centers - making it one of America’s fastest-growing communities for middle class families.[2] Twinsburg is home to three universities: Wright State University (Wright State), Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CincinnatiChildren’s), and Kent State University (Kent State). It also has several professional services businesses including AIG auto insurance; Apple Inc.; Barnes & Noble; Comcast Cable; David Letterman Enterprises; Dixon Companies Inc.; FirstEnergy Corporation; Great Lakes Gas Transmission Company.; Hubbard Broadcasting Company.;[3][4] JCPenney Co., Inc.; Kroger Co., Ltd.; Lucas Oil Brewing Co.(Lucas Oil Brewery); Mohawk Industries LLC.- all headquartered on Main Street close to where many stores are located currently or have recently been built such as Macy's Catalog Store,[5][6] Home Depot,[7][8][9][10] Sears Holdings Corp.[11] As well as multiple restaurants like Five Guys Burgers & Fries[12], Shake Shack[13], Papa John's Pizza[14], Dunkin' Donuts[15], etc.. It should also be noted that there is also a high school called Wexner High School which serves students from Twinsburg through neighboring Middletown Township and Clintonville while also providing instruction for students across numerous other schools including Beechwood Elementary School District # 33 which includes Wexner High School active participation rates exceed 90%.

It was settled by German Republicans in 1814 and named for Augustus C. twins, who were then head of the local post office. The town’s first store was built in 1836 and soon became a center for agricultural production. In 1868, twin brothers John H. and William A. Funk created the first electric light bulb in Ohio and later donated the bulbs to Twinsburg’s high school system. In 1916, Twinsburg erected its first municipal building which still stands today as a contributing structure to the cityscape. The town experienced rapid growth during World War II with an increase in manufacturing jobs and population growth that reached over 100 residents by 1945. However, following the war, economic conditions deteriorated and Twinburg saw a decrease in population until it peaked at around forty-five people in 1980 before slowly declining again throughout the late 1990s through 2000s. This has led to a decline in retail sales activity as well as an overall decrease in economic vitality – one which has been exacerbated by neighbouring towns experiencing similar declines over this time period (e.g., Bedford Heights). Today, Twinburg remains primarily known for its historical significance as a stop on the old Erie Railroad line which connected Cleveland with Buffalo and other major cities along the Great Lakes region; however, it experiences some resurgence due to its unique shopping district which includes several small boutiques lining Main Street (the only street within Twinburgh that is not straight), as well as its heritage attractions such as its namesake twin stores downtown (the second oldest continuously operating store west of Pittsburgh) and its renowned annual art festival which draws artists from all over Northeast Ohio each fall since 1968
In 1814, the city of Twinsburg was founded by John D. Rockefeller and his brother James. The city was named for John's twin daughters, Anna and Elizabeth. In 1881, the United States Post Office moved to Twinsburg from Ironton, Ohio.
