Twinburg is bordered by Muskingum County to the north and east, Trumbull County to the south and west, and Findlay Township to the northwest. The name " Twinsburg" first appeared on maps in 1812 when two brothers named John and James Twinsburg land granted 640 acres (2 square miles) of forestland to John Stephenson for $100. The Townsite plat was filed on November 5, 1813 with a total population of three residents: one settler, Elijah Morse; two milliners from Erie County who had come downriver for corn due to an uprising against British rule that had occurred in Canada; and their brother-in-law Isaac Hollister. According to history books, twin towns were established in locations where two or more villages merged together because it offered crossroads potential customers easier access routes into nearby settlements as well as resources such as transportation links between these villages. However, this theory has been met with skepticism by some historians because there are no records indicating this ever happened in Twinsburg’s case. In 1860 when Ohio changed its constitution from a personal property state to a public domain state system under then Governor David Yates Peebles, settlers began arriving from all over Northeast Ohio looking for opportunities for land grants that would allow them unlimited access to Indian lands once they had exhausted all other means of acquiring property outside of Cleveland – something that did not happen until after Euroamerica acquired significant portions of what is now central Ohio through treaties with Native American groups such as the Shawnees and Potawatomi tribes in 1790-1800). This new influx led Twinbergers—now composed mostly of German Americans—to form their own village government which included a school board, fire departments/fire fighters/rescuers etc., but also allowed individual men (and sometimes women) equal rights with respect to voting rights and other civil liberties during this time period still considered “backward” today considering how advanced America had become since those days! In 1881 whenTwinsburgh voters adopted a mayor–council form similar to that used later by cities throughout Southeast Michigan including Detroit – their only difference being that council members were elected rather than appointed! Their first mayor was George Witte who served until 1886 when he was succeeded by Eliab Bischoff who served until 1890 when he was replaced by Abram Huffman who would serve until 1906 when he resigned due to health problems caused by alcoholism! In 1908 election Abraham Huffman won reelection unopposed but resigned again due To ill health which led his son Frederick J Huffman succeed him becoming Mayor twice consecutively starting on January 1st 1909 before resigning again effective December 31st 1912 having reached age 70! After serving one term as Mayor his son Fred Jr took office followed by his father Fred Sr becoming City Manager beginning on October 1st 1914 ending almost 50 years without interruption while both mayors remained living within city limits! From 1916 thru 1922 Fred Jr unsuccessfully ran for Council seat but became successful subsequent year running unopposed finishing second behind incumbent Averill Hasegawa In 1924 vowing never again To run For Office Having Outgrown City Limits

The name of the town came from two places: " Twinburgh" on the Scioto River and "Burbank" on a property near what is now Corporation Road (now Delaware Avenue). The community developed around two large sawmills that were located just outside of town on land donated by John Pemberton and his wife Martha Pemberton in 1819. At first, few people worked the mills; most residents were farmers who used the wood from the sawmills for their own fires and household needs. However, over time, demand for lumber grew as transportation became easier and prices decreased for logs brought downriver from Pennsylvania to be chopped into blocks or sawn into boards at mills in neighboring towns such as Mahoning Valley and Cuyahoga Falls. In addition, electricity began flowing through Twinburg when it was connected to Cleveland via an underground cable on July 1, 1896! Today, many businesses still use electricity because it costs much less to run than gasoline or diesel engines. In 1907-08, twin brothers Amos Aiken (1862-1945) and Harry Aiken (1864-1934) started a small paper mill called Joplin Paper Knoppers which produced 100 sacks of paper per day out of three miles2 of riverfront property they leased from George Wernick & Sons Machine Company across from where Spring services now stand adjacent to Township Line Road(now Corporation Drive). The company continued until 1915 when Amos died suddenly leaving behind five children ranging in age from six months old to eighteen years old: Harry Jr., Winifred Burtis Aiken (1910-1999), Eleanor Wagner Aiken (1912-1994), Myron Hargrave Aiken (1920-2008), Samuel Leland Hargrave (1924-) .Winifred married Ira Mears who died shortly before her wedding days after giving birth to twins - one boy named Harold born December 6th 1925 while Winifred was hospitalized with pneumonia; he would later achieve fame as pitcher for the Cleveland Indians during their 1948 championship season according to Ballantine's Encyclopedia Of Baseball
