It is with great regret that we must report the passing of Mr. Troy Burch, owner and operator of Shooting Target Holders in Troy, Ohio. Mr. Burch was a dedicated member of the shooting community and spent many years helping to keep our hobby alive and thriving in this beautiful town. His contributions will be deeply missed. Shooting Target Holders was founded in 1977 by Troy Burch and his wife Peggy. The business quickly became successful and through the years they have donated many thousands of dollars to local organizations including the library, youth group, cancer support group, rifle range etcetera. In addition to their donations, Mrs. Burch was an amazing cook who always put on a great spread for her guests at their annual golf tournament fundraiser dinner which raised over $2,000 for various charities throughout the year. We all mourn the loss of such a wonderful man and we Thank You for all your contributions to our sport!

Troy, Ohio is a small town in the northeast corner of Ohio. The population was 1,924 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Springfield, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Troy comes from an early settler named John Troy. The town was founded in 1809 and laid out on land donated by Captain Abraham Lincoln. In 1814, the first courthouse was built and it functioned as the seat of township government until 1796 when it moved to Middletown. In 1830, Sergeant Elijah Mapes became one of the first white men to purchase land in what would become Troy when he sold his farm for $4 per acre to Samuel Bowman. In 1836, General Lew Wallace's military brigade passed through Troy on its way from Cincinnati to Cleveland and stopped here on their way back. The next year saw significant growth with the opening of a gristmill owned by Nicholas Weiser which processed cornmeal, flour, oats and other grains into flour for local merchants and farmers. By 1840, there were 21 businesses operating in Troy with 100 residents working at them including nine churches which continue to operate today. A group of settlers led by Reverend James Caldwell bought 320 acres (12 km2) around present-day downtown Troy in 1847 for $15 per acre from Colonel John Pemberton who had just purchased 2 million acres (80 km2) east of Toledo along Lake Erie for $160 per headland! This large purchase set off a series of purchases throughout central Ohio culminating with establishment of the Cairo Land Company west of Springfield in 1850 which opened up much valuable real estate area including what is now Downtown Troy Tamil Nadu India
