Troy, Ohio is a small town located in the northwestern portion of the United States. The population was 5,924 at the 2010 census. In 1814, it was part of what is now West Virginia and in 1821 it became part of Ohio. It has been a municipality since 1854. The village was founded by John Fenton in 1814 as Troy Township, West Virginia Territory. On December 3, 1821, Troy Township became an independent city in Ohio when it seceded from West Virginia to become its own entity. At that time the population was 2,500 residents and included only men over 21 years old. Downtown Troy features a large multi-story granite building which served as the first municipal hall and courthouse in Ohio. It still stands today and can be found on Main Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue. The building also housed the library until 1993 when that facility moved to its current location on State Route 602 just east of downtown Troy. In 1954, the township annexed the adjacent village of Athens which had been founded by George Witherspoon two years earlier as Athens Township (which later merged into Athens). The annexation allowed for increased development within downtown Troy without having to go through further subdivision or vote approval from voters there. Today Downtown Troy is home to many popular businesses including: Barnes & Noble bookstore chain (founded 1977), JCPenney department store (opened 1959), A&P supermarket #2 (opened 1984), PNC Bank headquarters (1989) and residential properties such as Park Place Estates Condominiums LLC (#7229). There are also several small restaurants dotting central business district including Golden Corral restaurant #5245 and Joe's Donuts & Coffee shop #6347 along with several used bookstores including Grosse Pointe Books & News Club #5471 and Lakeshore Books Incorporated #8794 among others

Troy, Ohio has a rich history that can be traced back to the early 1800s. The community was founded in 1795 by Revolutionary War veterans, and it quickly became a center of trade and industry. In 1801, Troy was made the county seat of Trumbull County. The town's growth continued until the late 1800s, when it began to decline as a result of heavy manufacturing and agricultural industries. However, Troy experienced some resurgence during the mid-20th century due to its location within the Rust Belt region and its strong economy. Today, Troy is an important cultural and economic center for central Ohio. The earliest evidence of human habitation in what is now Troy comes from Paleo-Indian sites dating back to about 12,000 BC. Over time, other groups joined these early settlers in this area including the Huron people who arrived around 4500 BC. The first known European visitors to what is now Troy were French traders operating out of Frenchtown on Lake Erie in 1795. They were looking for new land to explore and trade with after landing on American soil following their victory at Yorktown during the American Revolution. The town's founders were primarily military veterans who had fought in the Revolutionary War and subsequent wars against Native Americans. Many of these men decided to start a new life after completing their service out of state or being discharged from military service. Upon moving into their new home, they organized themselves into a township which they named after themselves – Trumbull Township (now part of unincorporated areas). This move made Trumbull County one of the most heavily populated counties in Ohio because there were so many veterans living there at that time! By 1801, however, things began to change as Trumbull County's economy shifted from agriculture to manufacturing due largely to imported goods becoming available on export markets following Britain's Napoleonic Wars campaign against France! As a result, growth stopped without significant investment from either party; TRUMBILL COUNTY declined rapidly between 1801-1810%. However, things changed starting in 1811 when Captain Isaac Goodrich built his mill on White River near today's downtown Troy – Trumbull County’s first commercial enterprise! Goodrich’s mill soon became one of TrumbULL COUNTY’S leading breadbasket businesses thanks largely to his innovative approach which used ground flour rather than refined white flour sourced from Europe! With this newfound success came increased trade with surrounding towns along both sides of the river; this led finallyto population growth between 1811-1812!! This period also saw construction begun on several impressive public works projects such as churches (St John’s Episcopal Church & First Presbyterian Church), schools (Trumbull Female Seminary & Union School), Masonic Lodge #4 (the first lodge ever chartered in Ohio), institutional buildings like prisons (Fulton Correctional Institution) and mental hospitals like Bellevue Hospital all located within walking distance von trumbullstown!!! These types of projectsochronicity are still evident today with numerous businesses located within easy reachof each other across downtown Toledo!!! These days though much has changed for TRUMBILL COUNTY since those heady days before development stalled….. principally due TO THE RESTRAINING IMPACT OF DYNASTY 3!!!!!
