At first he named his new settlement "Philadelphia" but soon realized that this would not work due to geographical limitations so he changed it's name to "Troy" after Major General John Adams' hometown in Massachusetts (the original site located just below where today's University Heights stands). He also hiredlocal farmers/masons/smiths to help build roads and homes which helped grow his town quickly into what it is today thanks largely to their labor force contribution combined with commerce generated by nearby farms and businesses which thrived during these early days when Toledo was still kingpin among eastern industrial centers (see map). With over 1,000 residents living in Troy by 1830 Census figures had begun building up around what would become downtown main Street while other neighborhoods sprung up along narrow lanes connecting different parts of town like Giles Road east-west running between Richfield Creek valley north-south bisected by State Road 2 now known as Highland Avenue -all doing so without any formal planning process or design underway! Many old timers still remember driving down Main Street back then past Pioneer Cemetery & Stonewall Inn towards Centerville & Union Hall all while passing houses built before 1830 like Central House #2 on Park Avenue today!)Today many people visit downtown each day shopping at local boutiques and restaurants etc., making this one of those busy little towns you never know will have something special happening next!

Troy is one of the largest cities in Lucas County and is home to many businesses and factories as well as some large residentships like Apple Inc., PepsiCo, Nike, Ford Motor Company and PPG Industries. It was founded by Greek Americans in 1811 as a small community on the Scioto River near where it now stands. The first post office in Troy was established in 1814, but no town site was chosen because there were only seven Greeks living there at that time. In 1815, a group of nine Greeks organized themselves into a company to purchase 640 acres (248 hectares) along the Scioto River from John Sellers for $1 per acre (0.50 per km2). They named their new town Troy after Achilles' homestead on Aegina Island in Greece which they had seen from their ship while traveling downriver to get supplies for their journey across Lake Erie. In 1818, an act of Congress created what would become Lucas County, including Troy within it. The land around Troy had been donated by James Whetstone who also donated $5 per acre ($100 million adjusted today) towards founding any village or town within Lucas County east of Lima on land he also owned west of Lima on what is now part of University Circle (). So when John Fritsch bought 1/3 interest in Whetstone's donation back in 1830 for $10 per acre ($320 million adjusted today), he became the founder and first president ofLucas County." Troy has undergone many changes throughout its history; through fire insurance companies such as American Fire & Casualty Company (now GEICO), Chrysler Corporation, American Cyanamid Chemical Co., United States Steel Corporation (later US Steel), Dow Corning Glass Works (), Monsanto AG (); Youngstown Sheet METAL Company (); Duracell NL () among others!
