Troy, Ohio is an unincorporated community in the Scioto County town of Troy, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It lies along State Route 8 and forms a link between Cleveland and Hamilton Township. The first settler in Troy was John Green in 1802. In 1825, Isaac McCoy laid out 3 acres (1 hectare) of what is now Troy for his son-in-law, Ezekiel Cook. Cook's heirs sold the land to George Atwater in 1838 and it passed through several hands before being donated to the township by Hiram Bingham in 1865. The township grew quickly after it was organized, annexing other townships until it had a population of over 10,000 by 1880. During World War II most of the residents left for military service but some returned after the war ended and continued to live there until their death or move away again during the postwar boom years. Some original buildings still stand such as the old probate court building which served as a post office from 1907 to 1951; also standing are two schoolhouses built in 1870 and 1871; and a Masonic lodge built in 1903 that still stands today as part of the historic district known as "Olde Troy". The closure of Parma Motorsville one mile south of town due to environmental concerns led to much loss of traffic through town on State Route 8 during this time period while people biked or walked from one end of town to another; also lost were many businesses that did not have access to state route 8 because they were located on State Road 6 which ran parallel to state route 8 east of town. Today much more people visit Troy each day than ever before thanks primarily to its location within easy reachof both Cleveland and Hamilton Township; moreover, many new businesses have opened up throughout downtown including restaurants, small shops etc., giving life backto what once seemed like an abandoned community decades ago when even basic services such as water supply or phone hookups were scarce outside city boundaries!

Troy, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio that was founded in 1817 by fur traders and other pioneers. The population was 7,447 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lucas County. The town was named after Troilus and Cressida, two masons who had traveled to America from Greece in 1795 to meet with Fur trader James Krieger and others on their trip around the Great Lakes region in search of new land for subsistence farming. Troilus and Cressida were buried near Troy in 1821 as part of a larger memorial service for early American settlers organized by General George Washington's Continental Army during his tour of the area called "the First Crusade". In 1814, when western Ohio became part of the United States through the Louisiana Purchase, Troilus and Cressida's remains were reinterred at Westminster Abbey in London Township (now Defiance) on what is now Mound Road between North Park Drive and West Side Boulevard. They are still buried there today along with other pioneer Americans from that period such as Nicholas Myers, David Davenport, Ebenezer Burgess, Solomon Lovejoy, John Nicholson (the first non-native settler), Amos Kendall (the first justice of the peace), Samuel Morse (founder of Western Union Telegraph Company), Elijah Price (the first postmaster general), Wm. Averell Harriman (Ulysses S. Grant’s uncle) and many more. In present day Troy there are several small businesses located throughout downtown which date back to before World War II when Troy was an agricultural center used mainly for growing corn; later it switched to manufacturing items like radios, autos or tableware until it closed its doors around 2006 due to economic decline However some recent businesses have returned including local artist studio space known locally as "The School" where artists can work on their art outdoors while people watch; also located downtown is a restaurant/cafeteria known locally as The Grille which has been open since 1956
Troy, Ohio was founded in 1795 by the brothers Nicholas and Samuel Troy. The town served as a center for trade and industry until the early 20th century. It became an important center for the American auto industry, and many of its businesses remain in operation today.
