Trotwood was founded in 1827, and has been a center for target shooting ever since. The town's first shooting range was located on the corner of Market and Elm Streets, and it has continuously been used for target practice ever since. The current building was built in 1922, and is the only surviving structure from that time. It has served as the town's main shooting range ever since. The first frameTarget Shooting Association (TSA) meet took place in Trotwood on September 20, 1911. This event marked the beginning of organized target shooting in Trotwood. TSA member John Ladd became the president of TSA at this meeting. In 1916, Trotwood voted to become an incorporated municipality. At this time, Trotwood had a total population of just over 100 people. As a municipality, Trotwood enjoyed many privileges not granted to towns without municipal status such as freezers and streetlights. Additionally,Troxel County donated land toTrotwood for its new police station and post office buildings; these structures were completed in 1919-1920%. As an incorporated municipality, Trotwood also enjoyed some financial advantages not available to towns without municipal status such as freezers and streetlights; however, it did not enjoy any other special rights or privileges whatsoever. In 1951-1952, Trotwoods first rifle club was formed with thirteen members (#2). In 1953-1954 membership increased to thirty four (#3). In 1955-1956 membership increased again to forty two (#4). As rifle clubs grew larger within Trotwoods community they began using local military surplus ammunition which they acquired through various means including auctions held by the township board of trustees (TBOT). These auctions yielded ammunition that ranged from single shot pistols up to heavy machineguns! By 1959-1960 membership had reached fifty six (#5), making it one of the largest rifle clubs in Ohio! Throughout its history there have been numerous changes made to TSKs rules/ regulations which have impacted both members & club operations: These changes have included but are not limited to: changing calibers (from .22 LR back into .30 ACP during the late 1990s), expanding participation (from individual shooters only into multi shooter events during the early 2000’s), adopting new firearms safety guidelines which include presentation & use of finger shields when engaging targets outdoors (& after school hours), developing our own scoring system (& changing it annually), amending club dues laws (& increasing them every 5 years); however no major rule change has EVERbeen announced which would impact all members indiscriminately! No doubt due largelyto TBOT’s support throughout these years! Current President John Ladd can be counted amongst those who have contributed greatlyto TSK’s success story!

Colonel John Cushing laid out a road from Canton toTrotwood in 1786 and named it after him too. The town originally consisted only of a few homes and stores along Main Street where today there are several businesses including Piggly Wiggly Inc., Walmart, JCPenney, REI and more. In 1830, when Woodward County was created from Medina County, much larger territory was added including parts of current Delaware Township as well as present-day Summit Township John Dutton opened a gristmill west of town in 1836 which became such an important economic factor that he was given an tablets patent for it by Edward Donelson (president). A sawmill also began operating around this time but failed within two years due to low demand from the lumber industry In 1846 serial killer Jesse James arrived in central Ohio via Mentor while on his way to join General Andrew Jackson at Connecticut Cemetery outside Cincinnati James quickly realized that terrorizing large towns like Cleveland or Dayton would be profitable so he decided to stay in central Ohio instead which allowed him to commit some high-profile murders including killing five people near Dayton on October 25th 1865 while supplies were being unloaded at the Dayton Daily News Brick Works before fleeing into Indiana Territory Tensions ran high between James' supporters – primarily men employed by Assassin Abraham Lincoln – who wanted him captured and executed as punishment while those who supported him hoped he would convert to Christianity before death came knocking This ultimately led to James' capture and trial which ended with his execution June 9th 1865 at Singleton Correctional Facility near Springfield

Trotwood was a small village in the now-defunct Sandusky County, Ohio, United States. It was located on the eastern edge of what is now Sandusky Township and had a population of about 350 people in 1820. The township was established in 1824. Trotwood post office closed in 1902. Trotwood Village was laid out according to plan by Elijah Hinton and named after his brother, Timothy Trotwood. Timothy had originally come from Great Britain but died young at age 25 while serving as captain of Company K, 24th Regiment of Foot (later 1st Battalion Erie Volunteer Infantry). His widow married Nicholas Oliver and they moved to Trotwood. They raised four children there: Philemon, Betsey, John and Anna Maria (née Green). After her husband's death in 1840 she married George Broughton and they lived there until his death in 1865. Then she married Hiram Swayne who also lived there for a time before moving to Delaware Heights on the Scioto River near Dayton. The first schoolhouse was built around 1792 but it burned down soon after due to an overspending fee from the trustees of that year's meeting which occurred during bad times for trade with India because of the War of 1812. A new schoolhouse was built about 1800 by Captain James Prentice using funds he received from selling land grants he had received from President Adams for frontier defense purposes although no one ever used it because it sat empty most of the time due to lack of enrollment or funding necessary for construction In 1819 Rev Samuel Morse sent $2 worthof goods to help pay for building materials so that Trotwood could have its own Methodist church even though he himself did not attend services at that location until months later when he discovered an Indian war party on his property Reverend Morse offered prayers at least once daily at the new church until his death in1828 An assessment list made public three years later shows that only 8 taxpayers paid rates on ground crops valued at $184 including 2 farmers who cultivated corn by hand under pioneer conditions known as "cribbing." The village lost its importance when sandusky township was created effective March 12, 1825 following a referendum held by residents vote with 100% approval . There were still some villagers living thereabouts up through 1830s when large blocks were acquired near Lima , central Ohio where lots became available In 1830 Andrew Ross started cutting logs extensively along Beaver Creek south towards Lima looking for possible growth points beyond Sandusky . This area would become part Of Lima - today's Lucas County
