The Earmuffs story began in Trotwood, Ohio on December 3, 1916. Captain Daniel F. Sellers was the first to bring earmuffs to the town and give them out to employees of the Kapp-Lodge hotel. The earmuffs were a hit with workers and residents alike and quickly became popular among gun owners. The earmuffs were soon being distributed throughout the city by mail order. By 1918, over 1,000 people had purchase earmuffs from Captain Sellers. The popularity of earmuff use continued through World War II and into the postwar years. In 1951, Captain Sellers passed away at the age of ninety-eight after a long career in sales and distribution of EarMuffs products. The EarMuff company continued its operations until it closed its doors in 1978. Today, many people still enjoy usingearmuffs as an enjoyable way to relax and protect their hearing during any activity or meeting.

Trotwood, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio located in Pickaway County. The population was 7,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus, OH metropolitan area. Trotwood is known for its agricultural products and horses, as well as its annual horse show and 3-day auto race Rallye de Trotwood which attracts drivers from all over the United States and Canada. Trotwood was founded in 1805 by John Trotwood, an Englishman who came to America to purchase land east of what is now Cleveland. At first he laid out a village on his land but soon realized that there were no people living near him so he decided to move his village to what is now Trotwood Township in 1810. In 1812 John's son Abram moved from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to take up some of father's land west of present day Troy and organized a small group of settlers there with help from friends including David Wilkinson and Amos Stroud (founder of Dayton). Abram had two sons Isaac and George which led to additional settlement in that location around 1816 by men including Jabez Brown (son of Ebenezer Brown) along with others families led by Nathan Sibley ( brother-in-law of Jabez Brown) In 1830 Tobias Henson purchased 640 acres within present day Troy Township from David Wilkinson for $785 In 1840 James Gould settled on 160 acres within present day Troy Township adjacent to Henson’s property On March 1st 1861 Andrew Jourdan set up shop on “The Green” southeast corner lot #2 where today’s Post Office stand On July 2nd 1865 Fayette Broughton became first white settler when he procured 640 acres northwest corner lot #4 off State Route 12 south from current day Painesville TodayTrottWood still has many activities going on such as agriculture/horse breeding/rallying events

Trotwood, Ohio is a small town located in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,547 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lima-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Trotwood has a mix of antique and new houses dating back to 1820. The old gristmill on the village square still grinds flour for local residents. Trotwood was platted in 1824 by John Trotwood and other pioneers who came from Newark, Delaware. The surrounding area became known as "The Villages" because so many farmers lived thereabouts and took care of their land and animals. By 1830 most of the settlers had moved away but John Trotwood stayed to build a home on what is now First Street in his now demolished ranch house. In 1835 he married Lydia Hahn (1813-1886), daughter of German immigrants Michael Hahn and Anna Kappeler from Reading, Pennsylvania. They raised four children: Lydia (John) Trotwood (1836-1927), Emma Lavinia (1839-1912), John Jr. (1841-1926), and Franklin Crouch (1843-1920). In 1879 Lydia died suddenly at age 52 during childbirth; her husband continued to live in the house until his death two years later at age 74 after many years of illness from tuberculosis which he had contracted while living abroad with his sister's family during World War I
