Trotwood, Ohio is home to the world's first and only gun mag company. The company was founded in 1868 by Jacob Trotwood and his son Amos Trotwood. The Trotwoods began producing pistol magazines and revolver magazines in 1875. They also produced rifle magazines beginning in 1887. In 1905, the Trotwoods merged with Browning & Company to form Browning-Trotwood, Inc. This company continued production of pistols, rifles, and shotguns until 1959.
Trotwood is a small town in the northwestern corner of Ohio, located about twenty-five miles west of the city of Cincinnati. The population was 3,965 at the 2010 census. The area that now makes up Trotwood was first settled by Europeans in 1792. When the United States acquired this land from France in 1803, it became part of what is now West Virginia. In 1825, Ohio territorial governor James Kapp appointed John Trimble as surveyor for Precinct 2 on the Scioto River. In 1826, he designated land east of the Scioto River as Precinct 2 West and south of that to become Precinct 3. This formed what is now Trotwood Township. In 1830, John Trimble organized a township committee and named it after himself – Trimble Township (now part of Parkersburg). The first store opened in Trotwood in 1830 and remains open today as Village store #1A. In 1834, trotwoods post office was established with Wm Hite as clerk and Thos Matson as receiver. The first house built in Trotwood wasn’t until 1840 when Phebe Granger moved into it from near Xenia with her husband John Granger Jr.. Mrs. Granger lived there until her death in 1902; she is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery there along with their son George Washington Granger (1848-1930). The village site was platted by Samuel Gregg around 1800 and soon had two schools – one for boys and one for girls – a sawmill/grinding mill, a gristmill/kneading mill, a blacksmith shop / forge / foundry / cooperage / saddlery business, an insurance company office and three stores: Village store #1A (founded 1830), Second store #2 (opened 1840), Third store #3 (opened 1850). A blacksmith shop also operated on Main Street east of present day Middle School between 1851-55 before being destroyed by fire; however this building still stands today adjacent to First Methodist Church on Delaware Avenue just north of Route 22 Exit 95B off I-70 exit 95B which leads to US 231 highwayexit 95B which leads to Parkersburg Via Delaware Ave., parking lot & church side

Trotwood is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. Trotwood was founded in 1814 by Captain James Trotwood and his family. The present-day town of Trotwood was organized in 1851 when it joined the Village of Athens. It became a borough in 1903 and a city in 1907.
Trotwood was founded by John and Mary Trotwood on a tract of land that they donated in 1814. The town was named after John's older brother, Troup, who had homesteaded in the area in 1799. The first store opened in 1819. In 1827, an act of the General Assembly created a township within Trotwood limits. The township trustees were elected by residents rather than obtained from state government officials as was the case with most townships at that time. In 1870, Trotwood began to build its own schoolhouse and other public buildings. In 1950, Trotwood became part of the newly formed Unitarian Church District which included all of northeastern Ohio including parts of Lima and Copley counties. On September 9, 1951,Trotwood Playground closed because it could no longer support children due to development nearby.
