The sunglasses were made from lead-free plastic and had lenses that could be rotated to see different views. In 1932, optical equipment manufacturer and retailer Gretsch started selling radios and stereos in Trenton. Radio manufacturers such as RCA and GE popularized stereos in the 1930s, so Optical Equipment Company (OEC) became the leading player in this market. OEC was founded by five businessmen who wanted to create a company that would provide high-quality optical products at a reasonable price. In 1938, OEC introduced the world’s first true electronic microscope, which allowed scientists and engineers to study tiny objects up close with clarity never before possible. The microscope was a breakthrough because it allowed scientists to explore how matter behaved under extreme conditions. By 1949, OEC had become one of the largest optics companies in the world with over 150 employees worldwide; however, World War II caused much destruction within the company’s facilities including loss of jobs and data storage damage that delayed production on new products for months at a time. After World War II ended, OEC began manufacturing digital cameras which eventually replaced traditional photographic equipment used by photographers around the world. Today, Optical Equipment Company remains a leading player in digital photography with its own line of advanced imaging products called ProdigyVision series cameras

The first optical accessory store in Trenton, Ohio was opened by Mrs. Anna C. Lutz in 1902. It was located on the corner of Main and Elm Streets. The store became known as the Optical Shop of Trenton and continued to be an important source of eyewear supplies until it ceased operations in 1978.
Trenton is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,821 at the 2010 census. Trenton is the seat of Stark County and home to the Trenton Municipal Airport and Trenton High School. The townsite was laid out in 1824 by John Holcombe and named after him. Trenton was incorporated as a village in 1892. It became a town in 1907. In 1960, it merged with neighboring unincorporated community of North Canton to form the current town of Trenton. The first settler in what is now Trenton was John Holcombe, who arrived there on horseback from Kentucky on April 12, 1824. He named his new settlement "Holcombe's Crossing". A post office called Holcombe's Crossing was established at that site on November 15, 1825; it served until December 3, 1865. The first settler to live permanently in Trenton was Joshua Frye on September 1, 1830; he built a cabin near present-day Main Street and Cedar Avenue. By October 24 of that year Frye had moved his family into his cabin proper and renamed it "Frye's Ferry". On November 2, 1830, the first election held in township resulted in three trustees being elected: one each for Frye (now known as West Side), Abram Barnes (now Knowles Corner), and James Gentry (now East Side). One week later voters approved an ordinance providing for a Township Court which would be empowered to provide courtship services between white men and Indian women living within Township limits; this ordinance also provided for the sale of lots within Township boundaries to raise money for school purposes On January 8th 1830 Nicholas Pemberton arrived from Ohio with his family following their emigration from Rhode Island two weeks earlier aboard ship "Eagle" bound forPhiladelphia On February 5th 1830 Pemberton erected upon land grant given him by General Anthony Wayne along Sixty Mile Creek where today Main Street stands This grant included 320 acres including all or part of what is now north side of Clinton Avenue . In March 1830 Nicholas Pemberton married Elizabeth Dickson at Methodist church located east of present day Amen Corner . They started their own farm about one mile west side road leading west from creek bank opposite house now known as Main Street which they called "Pembertons Ferry". That same year property line between east side Roadwidow State Roadwidow running through present day middle field north ot west corner lot line , south ot old house lot line were surveyed . boundary between township & county lines were not yet drawn so entire area lay outside limit Lines were drawn starting south end OF Park Meadows liong continuation up CROWLEY AVENUE until edge Of county Limits
