Tiffin is a small town in Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Tiffin is part of the Dayton–Canton–Middletown Combined Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1812 as a result of an early land grant to Ezekiel Tiffin by President James K. Polk. It was named for John Tiffen, one of the first settlers in the area. The original courthouse and jail were built in 1832 by Judge David McGee and are still standing today. Tiffin was incorporated as a village in 1902. it became a city on January 1, 1932 when it merged with neighboring townships Dodge City and Hillsboro to form the new city of Dayton. As Dayton's largest municipality by population, it has been responsible for many important public improvements within its borders such as the construction of downtown attractions like The campus of Kent State University and FirstEnergy Stadiums Cleveland Browns football games throughout the years; both stadiums have now be replaced with new venues respectively (FirstEnergy Stadium will become home to the newly announced Greater Cincinnati Soccer League team called FC Cincinnati beginning play in 2019). In 1933, Tiffin applied for zoning changes that would allow them to build an expressway through their center which never happened due to opposition from other towns nearby that saw this as an unfair advantage for Dayton over Tiffin voters who wanted to keep their townspeople close-knit together instead of having all their resources centralized within one place like Toledo or Akron had done before them! In fact much later on after they’d grown more mature and realized how important municipal services actually were back then (and also because they understood that there really wasn’t any other big city around here that could offer what they needed) they pursued numerous redevelopment projects which have since paid off handsomely including creating several blocks away from where I-75 currently ends up being located what used to be known as “the graveyard” now features high-end apartments/residences/clubs/etc., making it one of my favorite places on earth!
