Eventually, Judge Hirsch's business interests moved to Townsend, Kentucky and he died there in 1922. Judge Julius Hirsch's old business location at Townsend, Kentucky has been preserved as part of the town's history since that time. In 1830, Rachelle Tiffin married George Henschel and they moved from Tiffin to Ottawa Township where they raised six children: George Henschel Tiffany (1800-1860), Anna Henschel Tiffany (1803-1847), Lydia Henschel Tiffany (born about 1806?), James Henschel Tiffany (born about 1810?), Emma J. Henschel Tiffany (born about 1814?), and David W.Henschel( born about 1816?). In 1840, when Bear Lake formed on the borders of both Ottawa and Ross townships, members of George Henschels' tribe gathered around it as they watched what they thought would be an opening into their territory. They were disappointed when nothing came through until a group of white men discovered coal near Clear Fork in 1850 while prospecting for new land grants inside Ohio limits. After several failed attempts over the next few years to get mining claims confirmation from state officials because of concerns that mineral rights could be sold off at any time without compensation or title being given back to those who had originally claimed them, construction began on what would become known as Union Station in 1862 after local businessmen merged their companies into one large enterprise under one name—the Cleveland Coal Company. Union Station served as a supply depot for miners working in nearby mines before becoming operational as a passenger station with dining facilities in 1870 followed by engine storage area/warehouse/road garage/shipping dock/barn during World War II before becoming commercial property again following the war ended in 1945.
