It is bordered by Holmes Township to the west and Grove Heights Township to the east. The unincorporated community of White Oak lies to the north and east of Tiffin. The first settler in Tiffin was John Fenton in 1811. In 1816, William Caldwell bought land from Fenton for $5 per acre. The village formed from parts of Holmes Township on July 1, 1824. On November 6, 1830, Tiffin became a coal town when it received approval from the General Assembly to create a coal mine there under the name "Fayetteville". Mining began soon after and continued until 1902 when mining stopped due to over-mining by local miners at nearby Ashtabula County mines that were being developed at that time known as "the Greenbacks". Tiffin's economy changed drastically with its joining of Cleveland in 1896 as part of an urban renewal effort that included many new housing developments along Euclid Avenue between Superior and Trumbull Streets which quickly replaced manufacturing jobs downtown with service jobs outside of town center during those years before moving back into manufacturing again beginning in 2000s as production shifted back downtown along River Road near where IKEA now stands across river road formerly occupied by Chiquita Brands Incorporation USA campus operations before they moved out) In addition to its role as home to numerous national retailers including Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney (now Macy's), Kmart (now Kohl's), Radio Shack, Lord & Taylor Men’s Store (now Marshall’s) during these decades – much like much other inner city neighborhoods throughout Northeast Ohio – there has also been significant redevelopment taking place around Interstate 77 which runs through town center past IKEA towards Mentor and beyond resulting in much new housing development built since then adjacent thereto reflecting efforts by both businesses owners within town limits themselves focused primarily on creating more job opportunities for their own employees than what had been available just minutes away Downtown but also extending outward into adjoining communities including Beavercreek Township such neighboring townships had begun seeing some serious redevelopment too with increasing populationsdensity happening throughout rapidly gentrifying suburbs growth pattern characterized by increased suburban sprawl rather than dense walkable villages characterizing older suburban neighborhoods elsewhere including portions of Cleveland adjacent thereto while continuing traditional patterns wherebyfewer people lived near commercial areas while more people lived close to services providing transportation hubs centered around shopping centers or larger regional malls like Strongstown Gateway mall prior thereto while recently strong efforts are underway ongoing appear likely destined continue despite competition underway led by newly elected Mayor Timothy Leary who entered office having pledged allegiance thereto

Tiffin, Ohio is a small town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,895 at the 2010 census. Tiffin is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Tiffin was founded as a log cabin by Captain James Tiffin and his family in 1814. The first settlers were Samuel Hoadly and his wife Elizabeth Tiffin. Captain James Tiffin donated land to create the township on which Tiffin now stands. In 1829, Colonel John Copley founded the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Tiffin and soon after many more churches were established throughout Butler County due to missionary efforts from Reverend John Denton. In 1856, a railroad was built through Butler County and Tiffin became one of the most important villages on that line. The railway brought with it new businesses and people who began to populate the townspeople started families here again after years of being away from their homes during the agricultural season. The current courthouse was built in 1905-06 and designed by architects George Aiken and Harry Emerson Fosdick Jr.. It replaced an earlier building which burned down in 1901. That building had been used as a schoolhouse before it caught fire, leaving behind some scars that still exist today; such as rustication (the process of adding deeply furrowed lines or grooves to surfaces to give them an aged look).
