In 1827, Tiffany became one of the first towns in what became known as the Northwest Territory when it was established by Ulysses S. Grant as part of his effort to expand U.S. territory westward during the American Civil War. The Town Hall building still stands today., erected in 1865 by Hennepin County commissioners for use as their county courthouse until 1892 when they moved to the current courthouse complex on Main Street which was built in 1903-1905 by Mackintosh Brothers Incorporated In 1830, Tiffin had three stores: Naylor’s store on Washington Street between Market and State streets; Fenton’s store on Clinton Street between Highsmith and Washington Streets; and Clark’s store on Fifth Avenue between State and Highsmith Streets After four years she closed her business On October 12th 1830 there were three hundred people present at a public meeting held at Naylor’s Store called “A Meeting to consider Matters Connected with Township Government provided for under Articles XVIII & XXI of our Constitution” chaired by Capt John Gentry Reflecting its growing importance within local society, Majestic Theatre opened its doors for business October 11th 1831 with performances from Monday through Saturday evenings starting at 6pm

Tiffin, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio that was founded in 1814 by General Anthony Wayne and his troops during the Mexican-American War. The town was named for John Tiffin, an American Revolutionary War veteran who served as a colonel in the Continental Army. In 1821, Tiffin became the first city in what is now Muskingum County when it was annexed from Steubenville. In 1827, Tiffin became the county seat of Muskingum County. The population of Tiffin peaked at 10,000 in 1880 but declined to 7,500 by 1910. Since then, its population has been steady at around 7,000 through 2010. The town center is located on I-75 just south of downtown Toledo and east of Canton Road (formerly US 12). The ZIP code for Tiffin is 43604. Most residents are farmers or market gardeners; several restaurants and bars dot the area around downtown and other main streets such as High Street and Market Place have closed since 2000 due to economic decline throughout much of northeastern Ohio following the Great Recession. Some newer businesses have opened since then including a fitness club/retail complex called "Bargain Bikes" which opened in 2011 on Main Street near the high school campus; this addition helped revive some life into Downtown Tiffin's once struggling commercial district after years of neglect from developers interested only in housing development rather than retail or attraction uses. Tiffin was founded in 1811 by the Thompson family. The town was originally named for General James K. Polk, who had helped to found Ohio in 1795. In 1815, Tiffin became a part of the United States of America and it has since been one of the most populous towns in Ohio.
