In 1892, a group of men from Tiffin formed the Airgun Club, which enjoyed exclusive rights to sell and use airguns in the town. By 1924, there were over 100 airguns located in Tiffin. The club continued operating until 1975.

Tiffin is a small town in northwestern Ohio, United States. The population was 4,711 at the 2000 census. Tiffin is part of the Lima-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Tiffin was first settled by pioneers in the late 18th century. Tiffin was platted in 1814 by James Fenton and others as Township No. 9 in the Northwest Territory. In 1825, it became a village under the name of "Fentonville". The village had a school and post office from 1826 to 1850, when it merged with neighboring Lima to form what is now known as Lima-Tiffin Municipal District. Tiffin residents voted on May 15, 1907 to become an incorporated place with its own government. On July 1, 1920, it became one of seven townships within the new Defiance County (later Defiance city), which also included nearby Sheffield Heights and Lebanon Twp., then part of Trumbull County. On January 1, 1925 – less than two months after its incorporation – Tiffin became an independent township with its own board of trustees and mayor/council system under which residents elected three members to serve one year each for a term beginning on April 1; no elections were held between 1925 and 1959 due to prohibitionist violence during World War II. On December 10, 1957, deference county disbanded and all 7 townships within it reverted back to their individual governments; this occurred without any notice or explanation given to any of those involved other than a letter from Mayor John Ahernelly announcing the change in government several days later (see History of Defiance County). As part of that reform process all municipalities within Defiance City were placed into receivership pending dissolution until such time as they met certain financial qualifications (i.e., adopted budget policies etc.). This action effectively ended municipal autonomy withinDefiance City while still allowing some degree of continuity between communities withinDefiance City throughcontroller status (See Englishtown Local Improvement District). There are currently no plans or intentions on reestablishing municipal control over any aspect once receivership has been completed In March 2013 Trumbull County Commissioners passed a resolution stating they will not recognizedeference county's dissolution as legal because there has never been anything resembling effective governance or compliance with requirements set forth therein since 1907! This sets off quite an uproar among many who feel like they have been wronged by commissioners who apparently don't understand what happened since they themselves were not party to the original decision making process
