In recent years, however, there have been several attempts by Tallmadge Optical Company to revive its past glory by starting new businesses that produce high-quality products again.

Tallmadge is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,912 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat ofLucas County. Tallmadge was founded by proslavery settlers in 1813 and named for General James Tallmadge, an American Revolutionary War veteran and member of the First Continental Congress. The first post office established in Tallmadge was called Pembertonville. The name changed to Athens on July 1, 1826, because of the town's close relationship with Athens, Georgia. On December 15, 1827, Athens became the capital of Ohio Territory when it became part of the new United States as part of the Compromise of 1850. In 1830–1831 (during Andrew Johnson's presidency), Tallmadge had a population of over 20 residents; however by 1840 it had shrunk to about 10 residents due to increased internal warfare between pro-Unionists and pro-Confederate sympathizers within its own community. By 1851 there were only six residents remaining in Tallmadge; however by 1860 there were more than 100 people living in what is now downtown Tallmadge thanks to wagon trains bringing goods from Fort Pitt and nearby mines during America's early railroad boom period. In 1862 during Confederate General Robert Ewell's Invasion of Ohio campaign through central Ohio against Union forces under Ulysses S Grant they burned down much business district including this one causing many problems for locals until 1861 when government troops arrived and put an end to hostilities without harming civilians or destroying property After Reconstruction ended in 1865 Taverns closed all over states due political unrest caused by reconstruction efforts which did nothing but create more social inequality among Americans across races

However, some remnants of these industries can be found scattered throughout the community. One such business is Tractor Supply Co., which was founded in 1922 by John Fenton and brothers Harry and Don Fenton. Today, Tractor Supply remains a locally dominant retailer within the town. Another remnant from earlier days is Seeleys grocery store, which still stands today adjacent to Route 8 near Interstate 71 exit #5A . Another local business that continues to operate successfully today is Piggly Wiggly , which first opened its doors on Main Street in 1949 . This busy convenience store represents another example of how entrepreneurship can thrive amidst difficult circumstances in small towns like Tallmadge
Tallmadge was founded in 1788 by Peter Tallmadge and others. It became a town in 1815, when it was named for General Anthony Wayne.
