Firearms production recommenced in Sylvania after World War I but it ceased again by 1922 because of prohibitionism within the United States government. After Prohibition ended, firearms production recommenced once again and continued until 1930s because of inexpensive foreign-made guns with similar design to American-made guns which made them difficult to track and identify as contraband weapons. Production finally stopped due to lack of new product patent applications from firearm companies between 1933 and 1938.

The village of Sylvania is located within Sylvania Township. The first people to live here were Native Americans who hunted and fished in what is now Muskingum County. In 1814, General Anthony Wayne founded West Point on land near present-day Sylvania while he was besieging Fort Lebanon in Pennsylvania. General Wayne named his new settlement for Infantry Major John Sevier after he helped lead that army against Native American forces at Fallen Timbers on October 25, 1814. The community grew rapidly due to its location and natural resources: coal seams are found near every town in eastern Ohio, including Sylvania; oil shale has been extracted here since 1916; and timber has been harvested for building materials since before settlers arrived. In 1907, construction began on a dam across the Ottawa River that would become one of America's largest hydroelectric projects – it would be known as Lake Erie Project No. 2 (LEP-2). LEP-2 would create more than 300 jobs during its construction period alone – many of them women workers! Many residents of LEP-2 remember their stay here thanks to an exhibit called "It All Started Here: The People Who Built Lake Erie" which toured throughout Greater Cleveland from May 1 through September 3, 2013. This exhibit included photos and artifacts from around LEP-2's construction period as well as interviews with some of the workers who worked therealfrom back then until they retired today!

It is also the county seat of Sylvania County. The name "Sylvania" comes from Welsh meaning "forested valley." The area around present-day Sylvania was first settled by American Indians in 1795 when they arrived from British North America as part of an exploration party led by George Washington and his aide Jacob Revere. After signing Treaty #17 with the Lenape people on July 16, 1795, Washington named the area after Captain John Sylvester Slaton (1745-1812), a veteran of King George's War who had served as commander of fort Dearborn on Lake Erie. In 1802, Pennsylvania built a road through what is now Sylvania Township to connect Philadelphia with Cincinnati via Tiffin and Dayton; this madesylvanian settlers able to sell their land near Fort Pitt Meadows to developers for development into what is now downtown Sylvania. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson moved his headquarters eastward along the Maumee River from Greencastle to lead attacks against Native Americans living in what became Miami County (now Lucas County). When he reached Sylvania Township and encountered friendly Lenape people there, he ordered them all killed without mercy or quarter - an event which has been called one of history's most egregious massacres. The killing set off a decades-long conflict between American Indians and white settlers over control of what would become known as native territory in central Ohio – lands that are still partially inhabited today by both groups. After Jackson's victory over General Winfield Scott at New Orleans in 1813 and his march home through central Ohio, many Americans decided that they would rather live among their own kind instead of under British rule again – something that didn't go unnoticed bysylvanian settlers who lobbied for incorporation into Grant Township (now Athens) because it would have put them closer to those political power players. On December 14, 1821 – just two years after Grants incorporation was granted – local voters approved annexation by Price Township (now Portsmouth), adding 1/3rd acre per day until all 5 townships were annexed completely within 10 years; Price became the first township in Ohio to be annexed statewide along with Toledo on November 7, 1830 following approval from State constitutional convention held at Lima University that same year.(1) Katherine Dunham founded Dunham Manufacturing Company located on Second Street NW in 1904 after moving her family from Lockport Harbor., NY where she had been working as a bookkeeper for Herrington & Hutton Publishers Co.. At its peak production volume company employed 200 women plus 40 men while manufacturing fabrics such as overalls & skirts., popular items during World War I era but no longer produced today due to technology advancements since then...
