Struthers is a small town in the rural Southern Ohio Valley, about an hour from Cincinnati. It was founded in 1792 by General David Struthers and his family as a station on the Great Miami Road. In 1810, the struts moved to this location and began to grow food for their own community. The general store continued to be open until 1923 when it closed because of prohibition. The first post office was established here in 1814 and operated continuously until 1889. The first school was built in 1827 and continues to serve the community today. The village of Struthers grew up around two churches: First Presbyterian and Second Methodist. The churches were both important in early Struthers life, but they no longer operate together now that separated families have left the village. Today, there are a few businesses that continue to exist withinStruthers Village limits- one grocery store, one car dealership, one restaurant/cafeteria, and one hardware store- all of which remain open since before Prohibition! Additionally there is a library which opened its doors in 1998 after years of planning by local citizens; Struthers has never seen such extensive construction or renovation efforts before! The village has also enjoyed numerous cultural events throughout its history including several annual arts festivals (including the Frisbee Festival), model train shows (held every fall), pie socials (occasionally held during summer months), fireworks displays at Christmas time, additional special events throughout the year as needed or desired by residents or groups interested in hosting them.,etc., etc...

Struthers, Ohio is a small town in the state of Ohio. This small town is located in the Delaware Township zip code of 42004. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,898. The Newark-based company Struthers Corporation is headquartered in Struthers and employs over 100 people. The history of Struthers can be traced back to 1824 when two brothers named John and James Struther founded a farmstead on a tract of land that they had purchased fromRobert DeWitt Jr. The farmstead became known as "Struthia" after the two brothers' daughter serving as their spokeswoman while promoting their farm products in local markets. In 1827, John Struther married Rachel Ann Baldwin and this marriage led to the birth of four more children: James (1828-1912), Andrew (1830-1922), Lucy (1832-1920) and Ida (1834-1911). By 1839, all four children had moved away from their parental home to start their own families. By 1850, "Struthia" had become an agricultural village with a post office, schoolhouse and three churches - Methodist Episcopal Church (now First Baptist Church), Second Presbyterian Church and Congregationalist Parish Church - all under one roof. In 1868, Nathan Husted bought "Struthia" for $1,500 from John and Rachel Struther. Husted renamed it "Hustonville" after his father-in-law General Nathan Bedford Forrest who was then living in Cincinnati Tennessee at that time but soon to become president of Confederate States during the American Civil War 1861-65). In 1870, Hustonville experienced its first crop failure due to blight which limited production even further however by 1872 Hustonville had increased its production by 50% through selective breeding of corn seed variety improvement plants acquired from Illinois Normal University professor Drury Waddell who also owned patents on these varieties."By 1886", Hustonville boasted an acreage yield approaching 2 bushels per acre (!), 150 head of cattle , 20 hogsheads beer per barrel secretion rate plus 5 barrels whiskey each week producing an annual income totaling $5,000 which funded local schools . On October 8th 1890 Mr & Mrs Gentry erected a new frame church at Hustonville following services held there previously on October 7th 1890 by Rev Samwell Edwards officiating under direction given by Rev Edwards son Amos Crouch Sr., age 16 years old at that time."Rev Samuel A Edwards served as pastor until his death on May 10th 1906". It should be noted that Reverend Amos Crouch Sr., age 16 years old at that time was not onlythe first black pastor instrumentship for any denomination west OF Ohio but alsothe first African American graduate from Columbus College where he studied law prior to entering missionary service with The United Brethren church . Prior to Reverend Amos's arrival at Hustoniousville there were no churches or clergyof color serving within ANY white congregation in central OHIO! It should be noted that Reverend Amos' arrival coincided with another significant event withinstruthers community;the opening of what would later become known as strutterers library which opened its doors March 3rd 1893 consists wholly or nearly soowned & operated entirely by black citizens thru subscription/payments thru AME Zion Missionary Society

The village was platted in 1818 by John Struthers, an immigrant from Ireland who had come west to work on a farm near present day Akron. In 1828, Struthers sold his land and donated it to the Methodist Episcopal Church for religious and educational use. strutterersville Historic District contains a variety of architecture dating back to when Struthers land was used for farming purposes only and not as a town center or residential district. During World War II,Struthers became one of six towns in western Ohio that were bombed by the United States Army Air Forces duringOperation Mainstream (the Allied invasion of Normandy). The majority of buildings destroyed were single family homes which were replaced with headquarters for what would become known as "the main force" Bombing Unit 2(BTU 2), stationed at Strongsville Airport northwest of town. In 1957, Struthers incorporated as a village under the name "Strutherstown". The village post office closed in 1984 but remains open as an historical museum administered by Township government with exhibits on local history and culture withinstrutherstown Village limits only
Struthers was founded in 1810 by Nicholas Struthers and his wife, Mary. The town grew quickly, and by 1824 it had a population of over 100. In 1836, the Struthers Paper Mill began production in the town, and by 1850 the mill had produced 300 barrels of paper per day. In 1861, the town became a part of Lucas County. In 1907, Struthers Elevator Company was founded to provide transportation for goods between Struthers and other parts of Ohio. In 1922, the Struthers Paper Mill closed down due to lack of demand from consumers. The mill was later renovated and reopened as a cultural center in 2008.
