The first gun sights in Struthers were a simple iron sight on an old cannon. In 1832, one of the local farmers, James H. Barnes, built a little shop on the corner of Main and Beech Streets and began to sell firearms. He started out selling pistols, but soon became interested in rifles and began manufacturing his own guns. By 1836, he had built a small factory on State Street and was producing rifles for both the American Revolution and the War of 1812. The factory produced some 66 cannons until it closed around 1840 due to lack of demand from either side.
Struthers, Ohio is a small town in the central part of the United States. The population was 1,543 at the 2010 census. It is located in Lucas County. The first settlers in Struthers were John and Elizabeth Struthers who founded the village on November 12, 1824. The village name was derived from their location, which was on an old military post near present-day Struthersville. The post office was established in 1825 and remained open until it closed in 1902. In 1827, Daniel Boone set out from Kentucky for what is now West Virginia and crossed the Ohio River into Ohio. He named his new settlement Harmony after his home state of Virginia where he had been born some years earlier. In 1830, John Stephenson erected a store and warehouse on Main Street which became known as the "Stronghold of Commerce." This building remains standing today as one of Struthers' most important landmarks. In 1830 also came George Stephenson with his locomotive "Northern Spy" to help build railroads throughout America; this started what would become known as Stephenson's Railway Age or American Railways era. In 1840, Struthers merchants built a three-story brick building on Court Street which still stands today as STRUTHERS Mercantile Club Building No 3. This building housed many local businesses including grocery stores (Old Post Office), druggists (Grove & Sons), bakery (Baker Bros.), physician (Drury & Drury) and more! The community grew rapidly during this time with several schools being built including: Harmony School #1 (1830), struthersburg school #2(1832), struthersburg school #3(1836),struthersburg school #4(1839). Most importantly however HOMESTEAD became available for occupancy by residents on May 6th 1846 when Mrs Jane Goodrich erected her large frame house directly across from Old Post Office! Mrs Goodrich was an early resident ofstruthersburg and later developedSTRUTHERS into one ofthe most thriving communities west of Appalachia! A few years later MrsGoodrich donated her extensive land holdings to create struthersburg township trusteeship effective March 11th 1850 resulting in increased development opportunities withinstruthersburgh specifically for educational institutions such asSTRUTHERS High School and Presbyterian Hospital! Today much of that same infrastructure still exists such asStruths Memorial Stadium/Lycoming–USF football game day stadium complex along with numerous other civic organizations active within STRUTHERS today!

Struthers, Ohio was founded by Nicholas Struther in 1814. The town boundaries were redrawn in 1897 and strutherstown became the second largest community in the new boundaries. In 1907, Strutherstown was renamed to Painesville and the population grew to 1,100 residents.
