During World War II, Hickey & Sons produced military telescopes and binoculars for use by soldiers on various battlefield missions. In 1951, Harry Hickey passed away within months of founder Wm. Hickey’s death; however, his son-in-law Samuel Brown inherited his business and continued operations under the name Brown Optics Corporation until 1976 when it merged with Swenzel Optical Incorporated to form Swenzel/Brown Optics Corporation (SBOC). Struthers is a small town located in the heart of Ohio. The population was 1,844 at the 2000 census and 1,992 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lima-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1798 by Nicholas Struthers and his wife Eliza. They named it after their home in England where they had been living for several years. The first post office was established in 1801. Struthers Academy was started in 1802 and has since been one of the leading schools in the area. In 1833, Reverend James Auld moved from nearby Athens to start a religious school here which became known as Auld's Seminary. One of Struthers' most famous residents was artist John Singer Sargent who lived here from 1881 until his death in 1917. He studied art here under Professor George Catlin before moving on to Yale University where he earned a PhD. Sargent is considered one of America's most important artists and his work can be seen throughout the United States and many other countries around the world. Today, Struthers remains an agricultural community with significant industry including cheese production, lumbering, farming, manufacturing and tourism among its businesses. Its rich history and culture are also well-represented through its museums such as Auld's Seminary Museum (which features paintings by John Singer Sargent) and Strutherstown Heritage Center which contains exhibits about life instruments used duringstruttural development over time such as wheelbarrows or plows

Today, Struthers is a small community located just outside OFallon, OH. It has a population of around 100 people and its primary purpose is as an agricultural community with some 500 acres (2 km²) of land used for growing crops and raising livestock. There are also several small businesses and schools located hereabouts.
