In 1811, Stephen Foster bought 523 acres (2 km²) east of today's Strongsville center from Colonel Joshua Frye for $10 per acre ($100 million adjusted price). He built three small churches on this property: one he called "Congregational", one called "First Baptist" (later First Presbyterian), and one he called "Foster Bible Chapel". However due to funding shortages caused by the Panic of 1837, Foster never completed these churches or housing them; instead he developed much of what is now downtown Strongsville into residential areas that remain today an important commercial district for the town square area only a few blocks away from Interstate 71 traffic which usually intersects Park Avenue just east of Foster's house on Third Street between State Route 25W/Broadway Boulevard (now US 21W) northward) . On October 9th 1861 due to increased rail traffic through Uniontown over I-71 southbound at Exit 63a (Thanksgiving Day), Congress passed an act authorizing creation of new counties within Lucas County - Hancock to the west and Uniontown to the east - satisfying petitions brought forward by Governor Andrew Jackson five months earlier requesting federal aid in helping distressed southeastern Ohio towns fight against disestablishment following loss of support duringthe American Civil War via legislation granting voting rights to citizens in newly created counties while Samuel Granger served as auditor general overseeing local government finances.. After several years debate amongstrongsburgers over whether they wanted their city or county seat at Broadcom Hill (), voters narrowly chose their city over their county seat by a vote of 26% vs 72%, despite efforts by eastern suburbs such as Brookpark to secede from town governance because they felt they were losing sharesto residents living nearer Interstate 71 which connected them directly with Cleveland within minutes' driving distance! The original village platting process did not include any streetscapes or boulevards like we see today as development proceeded primarily along Fourth Street out toward modern day University Circle before turning northeast onto Broadway towards Interstate 71 whereupon Fourth Street resumes its current alignment northwest towards Pickerington Mills before terminating at I-71 exit 63a! Today much business activity takes place around downtown park Squarerather than focusing exclusively around Broadcom Hill!. Streetscapes have since been added such as Fifth Avenue running northeasterly down Broadway past Central Libraryinto Pickerington Mills before rejoining I-71 southbound just past exit 63a; Ninth Avenue runs southwest out towards University Circle before terminating just outside Downtown Weaksville limits near contemporary Church Square-. Although originally planned primarily forresidential uses only with little vehicular traffic passing through downtownon average weekdaydays prior to2000 almost all outpatient services located inside presentdayDowntownStrongsVILLEand adjacent collateralsite were provided freeofchargeto patients attending those services represented virtually all specialties including primary care medicine surgery psychiatry mental healthpediatrics family medicine etc...
