Strongsville, Ohio is a city in Pike County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pike County. The city was named for John Strongs, an early settler and captain in the Revolutionary War. It became a incorporated town on December 4, 1836 under the name of Easton. On October 14, 1854 it changed its name to Strongsville after Anthony J. Strong, one of its founders. On November 6, 1912 the city merged with neighboring Uniontown to form the current city. The area now called Strongsville was first settled by Europeans in 1788 as part of Sandusky Township west of Cleveland.[1] In 1800 Isaac Aspinwall donated land to build a small village on what would later become Columbus Boulevard east of Akron's current downtown zone;[2] this village was renamed Easton Village in honor of John Strongs,[3][4] one of its original settlers and captain in the Revolutionary War who died during the war while fighting for independence against Great Britain.[5] A post office called Easton had been established in 1814 but no mail arrived there until 1840.[6] In 1846 Anthony J., Sr., founded an aluminum smelting business near where he lived on Main Street which led to his later becoming known as "the Father Of Akron Aluminum".[7][8][9][10] By 1870 Easton had grown sufficiently that it requested incorporation into a new township because it desired more autonomy from trustees appointed by Snyder County commissioners under Township law;[11][12][13][14] incorporation took place on December 4, 1836 withAnthony J.'s son John as first mayor and Nathan Sweeny as treasurer:[15],[16]= Easton became a borough on January 1st 1897 when all municipalities within Lucas County were added to make up what would become Stark County;[17]= strongstown annexed parts of Euclid Township (northwest section) on May 7th 1913,[18]= and Mount Vernon Heights annexation occurred effective July 15th 1915= On November 6 1912 Uniontown annexed portions of Southfield Townshipaheadof their merger with Strongsville

Strongsville is a town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 23,827 at the 2010 census. The original site of Strongsville was on the west side of I-90 and it began as an agricultural community named Canfield. In 1852, three local men—Frank Strong, George W. Strong and Daniel Hutton—developed what would become the first municipal government in Ohio when they founded the village of Weaksville. The first post office was established in 1853 and the first school was built in 1855. By 1865, Weaksville had a population of 10,000 and strong industrial growth soon followed with shipbuilding and other heavy industry becoming dominant sectors of the economy. In 1898, Strongsville became one of five communities in Cuyahoga County to be merged into Cleveland after its incorporation as a city by an act of the state legislature. Although many residents longed for their hometown’s larger city center status, Cleveland refused to amalgamate with any other municipalities that did not have a professional football team (Cleveland Browns). So instead Strengthesville became one of only two small towns within Cleveland proper before being annexed by Cleveland again in 1976 following its switches from an open-air to air-conditioned stadium system based on Global Positioning Systems technology. With no professional team left in Cleveland proper – despite allusions to invigorate downtown activity from time to time – strengthsville found itself struggling economically during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s; however it has bounced back since then thanks largely to job development outside of baseball or football stadiums which are now used for other purposes such as retail or light industrial uses (see: “The Future Of Stadium Development In America”). Today there is significant commercial development taking place surrounding what once were only backyard sports fields as well as new residential areas developments proposed for Ellington Road near Municipal Airport/now known as Frankford Park; these changes have led to increased traffic congestion around some major league baseball venues while also increasing overall economic opportunities for those living near them (e including: “The Growth Of Economic Activity Near MLB Stadium Sites: An Overview”).
