However during this decade other industries such as lumbering began to take hold thanks to new transportation improvements like railroadroads which allowed goods to be shipped faster from Pennsylvania across Lake Erie into Ohio than ever before. This development led to increased job opportunities for locals while at the same time contributing to strong social stability among these communities because goods could now be transported directly from Pennsylvania without having to go through middlemen like merchants or wagon trains filled with goods destined for different markets all over North America
