Streetboro is a village in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Located in the southeastern corner of Butler County on the border of Campbell and Nelson Counties, Streetboro is bordered by Cumming Township to the north, Green Township to the east, Onondaga Township to the south and west and Xenia Township to the northwest. The Village of Streetboro was laid out in 1824 by John Stephenson as a post office on what is now State Route 248. The first postmaster was Amos Post. It was renamed Streetboro after General James A. Garfield's visit there in 1884. In 1887, it became a town when it affiliated with Athens Heights-on-the-Lake which had been founded by Rev. Drury Lovett in 1866 as an outpost for his new Christian theological college (Lovett College). Streetsboro annexed part of Green Township in 1907 and part of Onondaga Township annexation followed in 1912. Prior to these annexations, much of what is now Creek Valley were rural farm land located east of US highway 7/west of creek bedage leading down into Warrior Creek before it forks near its present location just east of US highway 20 and south along creek bedage leading up into Armstrong Creek (formerly known as Armstrongbrook). In 1917 Streetsboro also incorporated as a city under Ohio law following approval by an election held that year pursuant to state constitutional amendment adding cities within the state instead of counties. Cleveland's refusal to recognize Streetsboro as a city led to streetfighting between residents and Cleveland police officers until 1920 when Cleveland agreed not to enforce Prohibition while coexisting with streetsborough residents who still drank liquor (this prohibition ended six years later when Cleveland repealed Prohibition)). The City Beautiful movement began during this time with citizens actively promoting their city through design programs such as mural painting campaigns or projects like planting avenues with lilies or roses from automobiles parked along them On July 1st 1916 over 100 men from two businesses adjoining Main Street went door-to-door asking if anyone wanted shares in "a great enterprise" being started by Mayor Charles Fenton called "Cleveland Water Supply Company". The water company would provide drinking water for all homes within 500 feet of its delivery point without charge - something unheard of at that time! When no one replied after several hours, they kicked open doors using poles from nearby trees until they found three people inside who authorized them entry - this could have been considered prankish behavior since charges were never filed against those involved but it did set off a seed that would eventually lead to Water Works Company becoming one of downtown Cleveland's most successful business properties It wasn't until 1917 that Streetsboro formally incorporation created many jobs for local people including skilled artisan workers employed on construction sites throughout downtown areas like State Road 10/10A which still surrounds main square today; streetcar drivers; drivers for Warren Harding Transportation Corporation which provided transportation for locals going into downtown Cleveland; hospital janitors; alley cats who served food from trucks parked near intersection where current day FirstEnergy Center stands; water hoses put out on corners so dogs wouldn't pee on cars etc...
