Polk toured Streetboro with his party and called it "a very fine town." A post office was established at Streetboro in 1827, and remained in operation until 1892. Streetsboro's first school was built in 1829 by trustees Samuel Heninger and Levi Coffin; it was enlarged in 1862 and again in 1888. It served as a primary or middle school until 1957 when it became an high school. The present high school building was completed in 1971-1972; it replaced an earlier building which had been destroyed by fire two years earlier. In 1830, John Fenton founded a gristmill on what is now Elmwood Avenue; he retained ownership until 1840 when he sold it to Amos Winchester for $2 per acre (0¢ per pound). A sawmill also began operations here around 1830-31; these mills formed part of Lancaster Mills Corporation which owned more than 100 mills throughout Pennsylvania during the late 19th century including Reading Mill Paper company mill near Reading PA), Albion Mill (in Eaton Township), Old Forge Furniture Company mill (in Lenox Township) & others The Stroudsburg Silk Mills plant started up production at Elmwood Avenue about 1915-16 using local silk worms from nearby Cuyahoga Valley National Park Today Streetsboro has 6 schools: 3 high Schools (3 varsity teams each), 1 middle School & 2 elementary schools giving 3 campuses for students

Streetsboro is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Clermont County. The population was 9,819 at the 2010 census. Streetsboro is located on the southern edge of Clermont County and straddles the confluence of the Scioto River and its tributaries, including the Little Scioto River. It is bordered to the east by Hoover Township, to the south by Muskingum Township, to the west by Summit Township, and to the north by Columbiana County. The first settlement in what is now Streetsboro was made on December 2, 1792 when James Caldwell arrived with his family from Pennsylvania as part of a group seeking to found a new settlement in this area that had been disputed between settlements near Mahoning Valley and Greeneville since 1786. The town was named for General George Washington who visited during his military return trip through central Ohio in 1794. In 1802, John Stephenson moved his cotton gin into what is now downtown Streetsboro after building a stockade around it using logs salvaged from nearby Fort Washington which served as its arsenal until 1811. By 1830, Streetsboro had become an agricultural community with over 100 slaveholders who raised cropssuch as corn, beans, peas and tobacco. The early 21st century saw significant redevelopment take place in Downtown Streetsboro with several high-profile projects such as The Banksy Museum (2010), restoration work on Stonington Hall (2013) - home of Clermont County Courthouse (1853-2018), renovation work on PNC Park's First Base Complex (2015-2018) - home of Cleveland Indians baseball games since 1913 -and conversion of old Third Avenue School into Brown University's Campus Village housing (2017). These projects were all designed by architect Adamson + Partners LLP which has also designed numerous other downtown landmarks inClermont County such as FirstEnergy Stadiums – home of both NFL Browns football games (.com/takepart/a1g2vd3vhx0)and Collegiate Baseball Complex –formerly known as Briggs Stadium –home of Butler University Bulldogs men’s ice hockey team (.cleveland .com/ohiostatefootball/.htm).
