Streetsboro is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the eastern border of Geauga County and the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan area. The population was 54,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Muncie, OH–KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. Streetsboro was founded in 1834 by settlers from Connecticut and New York City as a small town named Albion. In 1836 it became an incorporated village and in 1852 it became a city under the name Albion after its first mayor, John Albion. The current name came about because most of the streets were renamed after American generals who fought in World War II or during that time period: George Patton (USMC), Neil Armstrong (NASA), James Earl Ray (boss of mobster John Gotti). In 1951 Streetsboro annexed part of neighboring unincorporated Geauga County and began to build a modern city hall and other public buildings. By 1960 Streetsboro had reached its present size with a population over 60,000 people living in 523 acres (209 hectares). The decade also saw major construction projects such as the completion of Interstate 75 which linked Dayton with Cincinnati; new schools, hospitals, shopping malls and other businesses were built; and major natural disasters such as Hurricane Agatha which destroyed dozens of homes and damaging much else within downtown Streetsboro including several churches that survived whole but lost their entire congregations. In 1990s two major fires ravaged Streetsboro – one destroying almost all evidence inside Council Chambers while another set off some serious explosions near Main Street

Streetsboro is located in the Athens, Ohio metropolitan area and is part of the Dayton-Middletown-Stroudsburg, OH Combined Statistical Area. The population was 9,715 at the 2010 census. The town was founded on July 1, 1806 by Major General George Washington Smith as a post on the Scioto River because it was an important stop for travelers between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. In 1811, Streetsboro became a village. On January 1, 1908, Streetsboro incorporated as a city. In 1911, riots took place in Dayton after African Americans were refused service at a local restaurant. The riots ended with 10 people dead and 150 injured. In 1919, Streetsboro became home to the headquarters of the American Nazi Party (ANP). The party spent two years there before moving to Indianapolis. On December 2nd of that year Alfred Rosenberg's "Rhineland Program" was published which called for racial purity within Germany through amalgamation of all Germanic races into one single people under one roof - this program would lead to World War II. The ANP disbanded in 1921 after Rosenberg's death. Streetorson has been home to many professional sporting events including the 1984 US Open Champion Tennis tournament and the 2006 Commonwealth Games which were both held here including their first ever women’s event which took place in2009
The first Europeans to visit Streetsboro were the French in 1701. The town was founded by Captain John Myers in 1792, and it became a part of the United States in 1802. Streetsboro was incorporated as a city on February 7, 1837. The city's population grew rapidly during the 1840s and 1850s, and it reached its peak at around 20,000 residents in 1860. However, the growth of Cleveland caused Streetsboro's economy to collapse, and its population eventually shrank to 10,000 by 1870. In 1875, Streetsboro surrendered its city status to Cleveland and became an annexed village.
