Streetsboro is a city in and the county seat of Franklin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,619 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus–Middletown–Elyria Combined Statistical Area. The first European to visit what is now Streetsboro was Nicholas Wade in 1795. He named it for John Stroud, an Englishman who had settled in that area some years earlier. In 1814, General James Kieft decided to move the capital from New York City to Cleveland and recommended Streetsboro as his choice for the new capital's location. The citizens of Streetsboro voted on July 10, 1814, to become the town clerk of their new municipality. On November 3, 1815, they ratified a charter creating Township No. 1 with a land area of . On October 22nd, 1821 they adopted a second charter creating Township No. 2 with an area of . In 1830-31 Alfred Muhlenberg surveyed and platted what would eventually become downtown Streetsboro including much of today's central business district (CBD). When he did so it was during one of America's early boom times as shipbuilding and shipping were burgeoning industries along both coasts due in large part to advances made by Captain William Bligh during his voyage around Cape Horn in 1790 which helped spur developmentalong both coasts

St. John's Episcopal Church, Streetsboro was founded in 1796 by Reverend Elias Howe and his wife Sally. The first church located on the current site of the building was built in 1814. It burned down in 1847, but Reverend Howe rebuilt it and moved it to its current location. The congregation purchased this property from the United States government for $2,500 in 1865. In 1922, Reverend James Aiken organized a group of lay people to purchase and manage a park at the corner of High Street and Elm Street which formed Streetsboro Park. Streetsboro Presbyterian Church bought the park from the Ladd family in 1945 and operates it as an open-air recreational area today.
