The following is a history of guns and targets in Stow, Ohio.
Stow is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 8,922 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton-Mentor Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Stow" comes from the nearby village of Stowe. The first settler in what is now Stow was Nicholas who platted a small town site on the Scioto River in 1816. In 1824, Peter Cartwright built a mill here and named it after himself; however, this name did not stick and was changed to "Stowe" in 1828 when another miller moved into the area. In 1830, John Hennepin built a gristmill here which became known as "Hennepin's Mill". A post office called "Hennepin's Mill" served until it closed in 1902. In 1907, local resident George Ladd bought an old sawmill for $2,000 and reopened it as the Stow Saw Mill & Mfg Co.; it continued operations until 1971. In 1938, during World War II, Stow received military training from Topeka Mines School No. 1 (now West Virginia University) which included air bombardment of enemy targets by B-17s from Midway Island and other locations off Mahoning County. The following year saw very heavy flooding that destroyed many homes and businesses in the community including several mills including Hennepin's Mill; however most residents were able to rebuild relatively quickly with limited loss of life or damage to property occurring resulting from this event save one man who lost his home due to water ingress entraining him inside and causing extensive structural damage beyond repair later that year). Since then much has changed but much remains constant such as being located just west of Akron on Interstate 80 within reach of major metropolitan areas such as Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Toledo/Daytona Beach International Airport making it convenient for both work purposes as well as leisure activities like skiing etc... particularly given its close proximity to two major universities with world renowned research programs like WVU and Kent State University while still having plenty of smaller villages nearby if needed or desired - something all too often lacking these days especially around larger cities!

In 1814, Stow was founded by John C. Stow and his family. The town is named for John C. Stow, the father of Ohio's first governor. The familyowned a mill and gristmill that operated until the early 1800s. In 1824, the village of Stow was formed from part of the town of Cincinnati and became a separate municipality under the same name. By 1830, the population had reached 581 people. In 1837, Ohio granted land to John C.Stow as part of its "statehood" process; this land included parts of what are now downtown Cincinnati and much of today's Dayton area. In 1850, an act were passed Congress designating Cincinnati as America's capital city; however, because Ohio had not yet seceded from the Union during that time period, Cincinnati did not become America's capital city until 1861 when it did so via legislation passed by Congress. The mills in Stow closed beginning in the late 1800s due to competition from larger mills located in northeastern Ohio and Indiana which began marketing their products at lower prices because they could ship them directly to markets in Europe instead of going through American manufacturers like those in Stow. However, some local residents still continued to operate small businesses within their homes until around 1940 when large machine shops began to take over these practices entirely due to World War II shortages of resources caused by German invasions during that time period
The name Stow is derived from the word "stone" and the suffix "-ow," meaning place. The town was founded in 1792 by Major General John Stowe, a veteran of the French and Indian War. He named it after his birthplace, Stone House on the Ohio River. For many years, Stone House served as the home of Stowe County's first courthouse and jail. In 1812, President James K. Polk built a log cabin in what is now called Old Stow to serve as his presidential retreat during the Mexican-American War. In 1815, David Wills became the first postmaster of Stow and continued in that role until 1865 when he was replaced by Nathaniel Blythe. From 1854 to 1914, Anna Wright ran unsuccessfully for Congress as an anti-slavery candidate. After her death in 1861, her husband George Wright became Postmaster until his death in 1881; he had been elected two times (1851 & 1857).
