Steubenville, Ohio is a town in Jefferson County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,848 at the 2010 census. Steubenville is part of the Dayton–Middletown metropolitan area. The city of Dayton is the largest municipality within Steubenville and its Combined Statistical Area (CSA). The first settler in Steubenville was Isaac Mason who arrived in 1795. The town name may be connected with Johann Wilhelm Steuben who came to America in 1786 and started a fur business on the Scioto River near present-day Uniontown. In 1801, John Fenton purchased an estate east of the current town center from Nicholas Scherrer and laid out a new township including parts of what is now Steubenville. In 1825, Henry McCoy settled on land west of where the townships now stand and named it McCoy Township after himself and his father-in-law Ebenezer McCoy. In 1830, Wm McKinney bought land southwest of McCoy Township from Ebenezer McCoy for $5 per acre ($140 total). This property became known as McKinney Park. In 1839, David Dix established Dix Manufacturing Company which manufactured firearms and other items until 1865 when it merged with Abraham Lincoln Armory to form Brown & Jugan Arms Company Incorporated (BA&JAC). In 1881, George Stephenson donated land to the village of West Liberty for build a flour mill that would produce feed for nearby farms while also creating jobs for locals. The mill continued operations until 1914 when it burned down due to high winds caused by an American Revolution anniversary parade that day in Cleveland Heights. On November 10th 1888, nine boys were found guilty of raping two sisters – one as young as fourteen years old – inside their home while they were asleep or while they were fetching water late at night because they believed their mother was sleeping outside her door; one girl wasn’t raped but she was “beaten about her head” with a stick before being taken into custody by her brother during trial proceedings that day because he could identify her attacker(s). That same year saw another indictment against eleven residents from Steubenville following an unrelated rape case involving one girl who had been taken advantage of by several men over time period beginning just prior to this event which took place on October 31st 1987 at age fifteen years old; only four people were indicted based on this case instead than originally planned twelve because many suspects either chose not to come forward or refused prosecution due to fear retribution if convicted or social ostracism if exposed beyond their small community like happened with some defendants implicated in earlier rapes like Case 1 above) On December 9th 1988 three teensaged boys ages ranging between 14 and 16years old along side two adults (one male) charged with pandering sexual servicesto minors occurred during evening hours after school inside involved family residence located on North Main Street STEUBENVILLE OHIO All teenagers arrested are currently incarcerated without bond CHARLOTTESVILLE KY Three juveniles charged wit rape/sexual servitude will go thru juvenile court not criminal court
